Lisa's Cryptic Quest (v1.2!)

So today I bring you another little bonus game!

Edit: This is the rereleased with several updated puzzles, better readability and hints. No new content besides that though.

Don't get too excited though, this one comes with some caveats. But when the flash of inspiration happens, well, what else can you do?

Really the largest problem with inspiration, is pairing it down to something you can easily make. Nothing kills inspiration like 4 days of writing boiler plate code! In this case the solution is pen and paper stuff... I just had to digitise it a bit, but instead of coding mechanics I can offload that complex stuff to the player.

So, what did I make?

I've previously talked about my love of puzzles. They get the noggin workin. And I was chatting with someone and they said they liked the Lisa puzzle. So... I made a bigger Lisa puzzle. It's not quite the layers and traps of that one, but it's a group of different puzzles that you have to solve. I even threw in some traditional porn game rewards for you. Really though, if you aren't into puzzles... probably don't play the game, yeah it's got a few animations and such but you aren't going to have a good time. There isn't any Cabin plot or anything like that, hell, there's barely dialogue.

The thing is, this isn't an easy game. It can actually be pretty hard. How hard? Some fairly staunch puzzlers got stumped by some of the problems so I've peeled it back little by little. But I'm happy enough with it now. Ideally it could spend a bit more time in the oven, tweaking bits and shaving off the rough edges. Making sure puzzles are fun and not frustrating. As I say, I'm happy enough with it though and at the end of the day this is just a little game and I can't really keep throwing time at it.

Regardless, I'm not claiming I'm some grand genius who can overpower the most magnificent of minds with my puzzles. No, hard puzzles are easy to make. Here's one:

I'm thinking of a number, what is it?

Now, this isn't unanswerable. Maybe there are key spelling mistakes in the post thus far that spell out a number? Maybe the image in the post has some hidden information that can be pulled out with photo manipulation? Maybe it's 42? There are many great puzzles that throw seemingly unanswerable questions at you but finding that answer is fun and satisfying as you comb through all the options. Also, I have definitely not hidden an answer to that question, looking for one is a waste of your time.

The true mastery of puzzle design is having each stage of a puzzle be just hard enough. To leave clues for people that naturally lead them into a singular answer. Of course, that's really really hard and I made this in a day. And there is the natural problem that the designer already knows the answer, they wont even see the crazy alternate solutions people will discover. It's had a little tweaking and playtesting but I have faith that you can nut out the brain teasers I've put together. Even if you have to work as a group. I wont be disappointed if you just go look at the animation files, but I will be disappointed if you decompile it to get the answers.
