So today we are starting with story time. I spent quite a few years working with the Kinect v2. Solid piece of hardware, I quite like it, there just isn't actually a use case for it... at all. But the question relevant to today is, can IR camera's see through clothes? You look at any press release and they will tell you that there isn't a chance of it, he will walk on stage and demonstrate it in front of a crowd.
But... well, they told a little fib there. IR camera's can't see through MOST clothes. Some clothes it peeps straight through. So what is the consistent elements? IR transparency is pretty common in synthetic, thin, stretchy and breathable fabrics. This is good because those are qualities that you want in a lot of clothes. Particularly with fashion styles that use layers and figure hugging pieces.
So in short... The Kinect can see through women's clothes. Sometimes it will peep through a man's tshirt, and it wont look through jeans, but tights, shirts, dresses, swimwear... straight through. You don't get this with a lot of IR cameras because the thing that makes it work is the fact that it's got an IR light flooding the room so it can see in the dark. It's why they stopped giving people access to the IR camera stream, otherwise the Hololens would literally have been x-ray specs. They don't notice during testing because the dev teams don't have enough women so they don't think about it.
In other news we put together a new Lina scene about her having a new camera and it's night vision mode... It was fun.
Oh yeah, Lina also won the character poll. Given she's got a bunch of scattered C1 content I have already put together a plan to push her through the rest of C1 and to the end of C2. This goes hand in hand with a complete rework of how photos work.
So with how Carla now gets a scene about her having a scrap book. Bugger... I just realised I forgot about 3 renders... I'll be right back. Well... I did one of them... Took longer than I thought... The rest can be included later. Anyway, where was I? Yes, scrap book. Carla has a scrap book and it is going to be an alternate way to start the photo quest. Lina Corruption level 1 is also going to have a way in, so no more just Haily at exactly C1, you'll be able to get those photos basically all the time.
Then, you'll be able to trade them with Lina for a variety of things.
Finally we have a little date between Lin and Lisa, just taking a moment to enjoy the lake together when they first arrive.
