Dev Log 0.18c: Lads and Landladies

Anyway, traditionally we do actual new content first, not fake new content. Firstly we've got a whole bunch of new lines that Carla will spout as you talk to her about the various girls. It's still not good advice, but it is definitely a lot more flexible. After that she will also be able to overhear a conversation between her and Lisa, there haven't been enough group scenes recently and I want to remedy that. Furthermore there is a "slight" update to how Carla will interact with you if she gets drunk with enough concern on Monday morning.

I think it's the breast scene I've done all week...

Really, for a peak under the skirt, Carla C2 has been a bit of an interesting project. She wasn't quite ready to break open and go full landlady but she does have to show definite progress. At the same time I don't want to go cliche, there are a lot of very strong land lady cliches and I'm walking a pretty fine line here. Over the past few weeks it's been a bit difficult to really bring her together as a cohesive whole. Her first corruption shows her to not really be the person we might have thought she was, even essentially before she was corrupted. Her second takes a bit of a left turn and has her moving forward trying to help you but just... not being very good at it.

It's taken three weeks of development to really sus out how to tie these things together and push forward with them. I think, finally we've done it... You know, it's not all written down yet, probably just another scene or two before it properly ties together, but the combined frustrations of Carla helping however she can but not really breaking her shell yet. As always the key was to draw from a real life experience. Hopefully it is all starting to come through.

Now, after that, Jenny. The general opinion is in and people seemed to gravitate towards the messy pony tail and the loose hair. Easy enough, I was prepared to evoke right of vito (a perk of not doing a development poll) but I think we've come up with something good. I mean you didn't choose my favourite one, but I think you're all onto something and really... if I was that keen on my favourite one, I wouldn't ask y'all just so I could ignore you.

Some people also suggested that she progressively dress sluttier as her corruption progresses. This comes up a lot, generally with people asking for permanent breast expansion... which is something I would totally add if the game was designed to include that from day 1. The game, however, was not designed to include that from day 1. Including it now would chew up months of systems design and brute forcing permutations of renders to cover all the different breast sizes between the cast (and the less I think about animation permutations the better). Jenny however, is in a unique position both development, and character wise.

You see Jenny likes fantasy. She can be both predator and prey and switch between them. And I'm redoing all her sprites anyway. She doesn't need permutations across all scenes because she is normally buttoned up...

But when her fantasy engages... She rolls the waist of skirt over, raising it's hem... A button becomes undone and the goods are on offer... her sleeves pull up and maybe she lets her hair down... She's not Jenny anymore, she's a character and ready to pounce. Fortunately all the assets exist to allow this change to happen.

All this was to be done... making her sprites and renders... man, my visions kinda blurry... I can't stop rubbing my eyes...

Now I'm not the best at conjugation on the best of days... and I'm all good now, but yeah... I couldn't actually see for a day or so there. And the renders were a little hard to do like that.
