Someone above (below?) mentioned Doom Patrol, and that is the only other DC content I strongly recommend. It is great (albeit corny at times), and Alan Tudyk is great in it. Everyone in it is great, really. Some of Brendan Fraser's best work in recent years. As for Lex Luthor, I think Gunn did what he could with him. Luthor's never been motivationally complex. At least in this you're given some degree of insight into his psyche, whereas previous movie incarnations he's just a narcissist genius sociopath with too much money and influence. (I've not seen the TV show incarnations so I can't speak to those.)

2025-10-29 00:54:31 +0000 UTCI hated disliked Lois in the beginning, epescially in her flawed western take on "nuetrality" which in America just means pretend both sides are equal, even when they are far from it Superman announced himself to the world 3 years ago! That means that we are supposed to beleive humans in less than 3 years have any (let alone a perfect) grasp on Android alien language they have never heard nor seen, let alone the cultural contexts? Don't get the hate for this movie. Not only was Hoult the 2nd best portrayal of my beloved Lex Luthor ever (after Rosenbaum from Smallville), and the background characters were so fantastic, but Corenswet actually made me like the character of Superman/Clark Kent for like the 1st time ever. After Lex, I think that Mr Terrific dominated the movie, and after Hawkgirl straight up dropping Netenyahu, I mean Ghurkos, to his death, the scene where Mr Terrific whoops ass on Lex's secret military base is the best scene in this 100% amazing movie!

2025-10-19 22:28:39 +0000 UTCI really enjoyed this movie and the cast and characters were great. I was also so surprised by the amount of humour that it had in it and I love it for that. But one aspect I really enjoyed, as someone who's adopted, was that final bit with Superman at the fortress seeing his parents and it's him growing up with Martha and Johnathan.

2025-10-05 15:51:46 +0000 UTCWhat I love so much about this film (with bonus points for every scene with the Kents making me tear up and miss my mom, RIP) 1) How pure Lex's hate for Superman it is drives him to the verge of tears. Greatest Hater of All Time Awarded to Lex. He's replaced Reverse Flash as greatest hater in DC. 2) That Superman was freaking out about Krypto missing because of his cousin and how rowdy she is (Highly recommend reading Woman of Tomorrow for a teaser about this version of Supergirl). She literally would level Metropolis for Krypto and Superman, when he confronted Lex about the dog the first time, was seriously terrified over what Kara might do if she found out. Bloody brilliant. 3) This Bronx kid never thought 30 years ago as a teen that I would get to see Mister Terrific on the big screen as wonderfully presented as in this film. Mister Terrific being pitch perfect and not a caricature, the Kents, and Kal finally watching videos of his parents he didn't know "Gary" had recorded at the end (along with Superman finally calling 4 Gary) brought me to f'ing tears in the theater. Not ashamed to admit it, grown ass man "Niagara Falls Frankie Angel" tears (from Scrooged). James Gunn knows how to bring the feels and trigger tears. I can not wait for Supergirl and the Superman sequel now. Let Gunn cook!
