FLTG Demo - Text Window

Hi, patrons.

Today, I would like to share something I have been thinking about while working. I hope you find it interesting.😉

Most visual novel games have a text window located at the bottom of the game screen. The same applies to movies with subtitles.

Many people are familiar with this layout and can quickly glance down from the center of the screen to read the text. While there are slight variations across cultures, generally speaking, it is easier for the eyes to move from left to right and from the center downwards.

If we simplify eye movement, it might look something like the following (of course, actual eye movement is much more complex and often involves saccades).

I initially wanted this layout, but it often obscures essential body parts. While the text window is semi-transparent in the actual game, it can still be distracting. Additionally, while it is possible to temporarily hide the text window, this would interrupt the flow of the game.

Therefore, I moved the text window to the upper left corner. In this case, I believe reading the text and checking the image are very efficient. However, in this case, looking at the image and then checking the text is inefficient and can cause eye strain.

However, the best part is that it never obscures her beautiful body. Therefore, I have decided to adjust the position of the text window according to each sequential image. If the text window is most suitable at the bottom, it will be positioned there. If the top-left or top-right corner is deemed most appropriate, it will be positioned there.

However, in the first demo, the text window's position will be fixed at the top-left corner (this feature will be updated in the second demo to be delivered next month).
