BJ animation - Background + Fluids test render

Remember this? Still working on it! Actually I've been working on it pretty much full time, though most of that was just fighting with fluid-simulation. That shit really sucks. It's not perfect but it's as good as it's getting, I think.

I also built them a little set, fought with lighting for a while and generally touched a few things up. It's pretty much ready for rendering I think. That's going to take me probably the better part of a week to do, but in the meantime, here's a little taste of what's to come! Unintentional pun but I'll take it.

What do you think, how's it lookin? :D

Your canids are so hot :P

The background wasn't really designed with a ton of thought, just sort of 'yup, that looks kitcheny, good to go'. If it's looking particularly odd, I guess I didn't notice. :P

That couple is a nice addition to the IKEA booklet :D The lighting is pretty fantastic for real.

Forget the girl, I want that kitchen! Any reason you chose place them so far away from the sink? Couldn't they have next to the oven area? Not a nitpick, just curious

Thanks dude! :D I think on this one I'm just going to leave the camera more or less where it is... I thought about it for a bit, but I didn't really plan it with camera stuff in mind and can't find an angle I'm really into. Having bits of the characters cut off the screen just didn't sit well with me for some reason. Maybe I'll try to plan the next project with a closer up/more dynamic camera angle in mind. :P

Dang, thank you! Rendering isn't the real issue. I can still use my computer pretty effectively while rendering, so that's just a matter of waiting. I don't make things fast enough right now that render time is what holds me back, though it is annoying, haha. The real sucky bit is iteration. Especially with things like fluid simulation- there's not much to do about it except start the simulation, wait an hour, see how it looks, tweak the numbers, repeat repeat repeat.... Real time sink. But maybe I'll take you up on that sometime. Faster rendering certainly wouldn't hurt. x3

Looking great, I think the lighting is wonderful and the set is clean! Doesn't detract from what's going on and just flows into our brains without taking any effort. I will say though, from this render viewport, the action feels a little far away and the set a little too open. Tightening in the angle a bit would do wonders to cozy up the environment and get people closer to the juicy bits of the animation :D Either way, absolutely amazing work and you're doing great! Progressing along at a blazing fast pace and with quality output, too. As for rendering times there's not much workaround outside of hardware upgrades, but you can also look at renting/outsourcing computation needs over the cloud or similar. Might be worth looking into!

Impressive! Actually the best thing I’ve ever seen when we speak about furry 3d art. P.S. I’d be happy to help you with computational powers if you need it for rendering.

CPU. I've done tests on both, my GPU just isn't up to the task and takes even longer than CPU. I even tested out hybrid rendering and that just slowed things down too. Most of the day today was just spend looking for ways to reduce the render time and as far as I can tell, it's as good as it's getting. This one's just gonna be a grind. :P

Ruaidri

You're doing good! I like this! Quick question, how are you rendering right now? CPU or GPU?

Shira Wolven

Thanks man! :3

Ruaidri

I hope so! :D

This still is just gorgeous

Wow this is going to be epic
