We have a so-so chance to save two if they stick together but incur a benefit to the enemy of having a good chance of us losing two. I don’t know if a policy, such as ‘we will pull a bomber out of formation, losing our bombs for this mission, to escort a wounded comrade home,’ starts at the top or bottom.

Also, you don’t need a shortcut, you are made for this. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. Hope the 99th is in this series, they were the red tails, an all African-American squadron. They were heroes of mine growing up because despite all the crap they got back home, they said “this is My country too, and I’m gonna fight for it”. True heroes and a big part of the air campaign, they never lost a single bomber that they guarded. As an aviation nerd, this series makes me happy.

Keep in mind these airspeeds are at sea level and the maximum speeds lessen the higher in elevation you go.
