THUNDER! "They've got us zeroed!" means that the enemy knows our position and has us targeted for indirect fire such as mortars or artillery.

2023-05-19 23:05:59 +0000 UTCThis one is my least favorite episode, because 1) they got Albert Blithe's story wrong, and 2) there's so much combat I get battle-fatigue from watching this episode

2023-05-17 05:22:09 +0000 UTCShe takes in all the information broski... but she's one person entertaining like hundreds of us. No need to be self-serving. Either share info with the group or don't. Girl works her ass off on like four platforms, sheesh. EDIT: upon further review I see that this has been addressed. Jesus boys <3

2023-05-16 06:56:57 +0000 UTCYeah I have seen the show a few times, and never knew about this truth about Blithe until now. TY for sharing this info.

2023-05-15 17:19:02 +0000 UTCDuane, why would you post something like this here? I mean, this not a positive way to get attention for yourself. If you disagree or have a problem with anything be polite at least.

2023-05-15 13:00:59 +0000 UTCimagine expecting someone to reply to every comments this person get in one day when there are hundreds and hundreds, some ppl might have extra time

2023-05-15 11:26:00 +0000 UTCNot sure what upset you but she does read the comments. She even mentioned at times what people said when talking about it on stream. It’s rude to go and say she is ignoring everyone when it’s not true. She did the movie poll, the recent one, by taking what people suggested. If she was ignoring them she wouldn’t have the movies people suggested on it. Also, you could have always asked nicely if the comments help rather than just posting “SHE IS IGNORING EVERYONE”

2023-05-15 10:18:07 +0000 UTCAlbert Blithe (June 25, 1923 – December 17, 1967) was an American career soldier who served as a private first class with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He served again with the Airborne during the Korean War and was twice decorated for gallantry. On December 10, 1967, while on active duty in Germany, Blithe felt nauseated when he returned from a weekend at Bastogne, Belgium, where he had taken part in the ceremonies commemorating the Battle of the Bulge. On December 11, 1967, Blithe was taken to the emergency room at Wiesbaden Hospital, Germany, where he was admitted with a diagnosis of a perforated ulcer. He died in the intensive care unit on December 17 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery at the rank of Master Sergeant in the US Army.

2023-05-15 08:03:32 +0000 UTCTypically, I would (like the last episode) take a moment and tell you what the difference is between companies, units and divisions are ..but you appear to ignore all of this help we throw to you. I have not seen ONE reply to ONE letter that ONE person has ever written to you!!!!!! You ignore all

2023-05-15 07:54:01 +0000 UTCFlash!!! I know very little about what it is like to be in the military and to see battle since I have not served. However I do feel this show does a good job in giving a representation of war and the affects on soldiers, mentally and physically. As the series goes on, I found myself struggling with these depictions of battle. Which I suppose it means the show has done its job in being as realistic as possible. But yes things will continue to escalate in intensity as the story moves on. Might want to have tissues at the ready for those of you who are watching for the first time. This show still gets to me and I have seen it several times.

2023-05-15 03:26:43 +0000 UTCThe show got the facts about Blithe wrong. He actually did survive, but he never attended any of the reunions, so the rest of the soldiers assumed that he died and that's what they told the creators of the show. Blithe didn't pass away until 1967.

2023-05-15 02:34:47 +0000 UTCThey got us zero'd= artillery is aimed right on their position. They’ve dialed in their location to drop ordinance at their location.

2023-05-14 22:55:22 +0000 UTCAh yes, I explained same deal below but I forgot the airborne uses regiments instead, much like the cavalry. Different terms, same measurement. I almost started with fireteams but opted to start at platoon lol. Garry Owen ;)
Joe
2023-05-14 22:46:04 +0000 UTCA platoon is 40 to 50 men. 4 to 6 platoons make a company. 4 to 6 companies make a battalion. Four to eight battalions make a brigade. 4 brigades made a division. These are general numbers and is +/- depending on the unit you’re in. So someone in 1st platoon, easy company and another in 3rd platoon easy company are both in easy company - they’re just divided into groups for command and control purposes. I hope that helps. Haven’t finished this but it is complex for someone who doesn’t have military experience… appreciate you learning about it. Was a lot of peoples lives for however long we were in.

2023-05-14 22:41:24 +0000 UTCThunder! A squad is 6 - 10 sodiers, a platoon has 3 - 4 Squads in them. While a company has 3 - 4 platoons and a battalion is 3 - 5 companies within them. Followed up by regiments which contains 3 -5 battalions. And a divison has 3 regiments within them. There are guides that explains this more. About Blight, its a very interesting point you make, ive seen this serie way too many times but not thought of Blight like you mentioned. There are some men whom likes the war and enjoyed it and then the counterpart Blight. There was a man called Jack Churchill, aka Mad Jack. He charged the beach of Normandie with a sword and there are even a picture from that event with him holding the sword in mid of the beach. There are so many aspect of the war and it brings out the horror for most and some deals with it during the war like Blight and others it catches up to. Great reaction Biss. Looking foward to your next one.
