Saving Private Ryan Full and early

Its Finally here !

Comments

Hope you watch Greyhound with Tom Hanks. Great cast, shows what the navy had to do during convoy duty.

Jason Allen Wolcott

Going RIGHT vs going LEFT is because of hand dominance. If you are right handed, like the most of folk, you twist easily to the left with a rifle, but not so much to the right and so as a right hander, you want to go right so your targets are to the left. Jackson is left handed and so going left was better for him because he can twist to the right easier. Usually you want to have at least a couple left handed soldiers in each squad for this reason. Ideally you will have a squad of lefties in every platoon giving you a good team to send down the left flank.

Great reaction!!!That five minutes lasted 5 hours. IMAGINE the true sacrifice for our FREEDOMS today. Can't wait for We Stand Alone Together Reaction!!

Jason Allen Wolcott

You lose the privilege to surrender if you kill my people, but as soon as you start to lose, you think you get to survive and be a POW? Maybe surrender before you kill my people because you will be awarded with the same

John Flack

huh?

Just please promise me one thing sweetie please promise me you won’t ever go in the army young dumb stupid boys like me go in the army and we get killed πŸ˜”

These warriors went through things I hope we never have to experience again. After going through so many of these nightmarish experiences there were numerous reports were these soldiers had there arm shot off or blown off and that same soldier would say Hey buddy can you get my watch off my arm it's a good watch which the soldier did before the wounded soldier was taken away. During the first couple days of the invasion taking of prisoners was not allowed. In fact they were given strict orders to kill ALL enemy soldiers. Once the beachhead was secured those orders were changed. POW - Prisoner Of War. I can tell you through personal experience that every soldier cries out for their mother in their last few moments of their life. And those soldiers that witness this? This memory will haunt their dreams until the day they die. Wades death is always a difficult thing to watch. And I do read time to time in comments how they OD wade deliberately to kill them which is not the case. Myself I was US Navy Corpsman for 12 years and had 2 tours in Afghanistan and 3 in Iraq and what that is the equivalent of what the wade character was in the US Army. And with my experience I can tell you we would never OD someone to put them out of their misery. What would do is do whatever was necessary to make their passing as painless as possible for its the least we can do. Now the actions of the other soldiers they are well aware how valuable and rare those morphine shots are. But they also know Wade took care of them in their greatest need and often doing so by risking his own life in the process. That being said those so.diers would never allow someone they care for to suffer when they know he is going to die. This movie doesn't follow any real storyline HOWEVER none of the tactics or battle scenes were not exaggerated in anyway. It is a movie that is the most accurate depiction of what combat is like. Lone Survivor is another must see but its based on an actual recent event in Afghanistan. I also highly recommend watching the 2 WWII TV shows made and producer by both Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks called BAND OF BROTHERS and THE PACIFIC. Both of which are nothing short of EPIC.

It was def no horror haha

Biss Reactions

D Day was indeed real. It was the allied invasion of occupied France along the Normandy coast, and it's success was the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany. I am old enough to have had relatives who served in the war; all of my grandparents had brothers and cousins who fought and most died in battle. It was a horrible time, but as many say freedom is never free. There is always a cost to freedom. Movies like this serve to show me that what we have was earned by those who fought, suffered and even died so that others could be free, so that we can have the lives we have today, and that we all owe those who came before us. But enough of that, I see I have to go get my eardrums shattered. The Thing.....really?!? I thought you swore off scary movies...

Bandmaidfanatl

You're mistaking my enthusiasm for being demanding. Not the case. I just really love Band of Brothers

Adam

Usually, I don't like it when someone says "You HAVE to watch this or you HAVE to do that" so I won't say you HAVE to watch anything. But I will tell you that I recently watched Band of Brothers and I did love it. But if a war series is not for you then you HAVE to watch.... no just kidding. You might really like Pearl Harbor.

jerry hinkle

Another shining example of your beauty on display. 5 star reaction. Loved it. Another stunningly beautiful war time film you might like is Pearl Harbor if you have not seen it. Of course, its based on the attack on Pearl Harbor but there is a love story to it as well.

jerry hinkle

Proud of her. She held up well. Not that she had to, but just saying.

James Evanko

Now you HAVE to watch Band of Brothers. It was produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, made 3 years after Saving Private Ryan. It's based on real characters/events and IMO is even better than this movie... and I love this movie. I promise you will love it!

Adam

Half a roll of paper towels. That's not bad for this movie.

Andrew Zachman

5 out of 5 would be my rating.

Rob Schofield

Certainly a very grim and brutal depiction of what war is really like. Based on a little bit of research I did, not everything in the story is what actually happened. Apparently there was the Niland brothers who James Ryan character is based on. This video https://youtu.be/h1aGH6NbbyE shows how accurate the movie is to the real life events during WWII. if you are interested check it out.

Rob Schofield

Excellent movie! A hard one to react to. You did a great job. The worst for me is when Wade dies, crying for his mama, loss it ever time. 5 out of 5

Andrew Zachman

June 6, 1944 is known as D-Day. This is the invasion of Normandy Beach in France during World War II.
