2024-12-29 00:57:51 +0000 UTCThis episode is the pinnacle of this anime. It's so beautiful in terms of animation, music and plot. The show did us SO dirty making Lakan out to be a villain initially. Even going as far as to make him say "Oh, how I wanted to try to force myself on her one day". I think this line is actually important because I think he's saying this with an evil look, for the sake of tricking Jinshi into disliking him. I also think it's a line to make us the audience believe he's evil. He also mentions in this episode (ep 23) that "A terrible thought crossed my mind". Which is likely referring to the same exact terrible thing he tells Jinshi, correct me if I'm wrong though. He probably was thinking of doing it, because Fengxian was going to be bought out by someone else, despite there being an obvious deep connection between them. He doesn't act on it clearly, but instead the very opposite occurs. Their bond strengthens organically, and they have a child. Beautiful episode, beautiful series!
