2025-03-25 05:41:10 +0000 UTCI feel like almost everyone I see watch this show really misses one of the major points that Oda is kind of trying to show here. While Wyper is physically violent and angry at the Skypians and Gan Fall, he and his people have been physically displaced and attacked by previous Skypian Rulers. While Gan Fall seems nice and calm, what he and the Skypians are doing is using the current structure their people created to enact system violence on the Skypians by denying them access to their ancestral home and the resources it would provide. Oda is not trying to make Wyper the "bad guy" here, he is trying to show that both sides are using a form of violence. In the real world to resolve this type of issue you are supposed to go through reparations and give money/resources or even the land back to the displaced people. While Wyper got mad during the negotiation and said some wild shit, he said it most likely to force the end of negotiations. I think you need to see it from his and the Shandrians' perspective here, they should not have to negotiate to share something that was taken from them. They have every right to negotiate and demand it back and Gan Fall making the pumpkin statement is just a reminder that the Skypians have ownership of the Verth that should belong to the Shandrians so it just made him even angrier. After rewatching this show I often think about the first time I watched this arc as a teenager and self reflect on why I only saw Wyper's actions as violent and not what Skypea did to the Shandrians as violent.
