Added 2025-08-14 13:21:49 +0000 UTCThis is a massive overhaul. You will need to start a new savefile as it involves some changes that will break your old savefile. This will not happen regularly, but was necessary with such big changes.
Navigate to here: C:\Users\<yourname>\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Kin and Quarry
And delete all 3 SaveFile folders.
These patch notes are not sorted by any kind of importance, so I recommend you at least gloss over them and see what's inside.
IMPORTANT: Do not turn off Artifact Popups in this build. You won't get Permits at all. I'll be fixing this later.
Known:
You cannot pause the game or access settings while in the middle of a day. This is going to require more coding than you may think, but I am aware and it will be addressed later.
Patch Notes:
New Evertree Perk Nodes. Still very much incomplete.
Firefly Size Perk Node replaced with Blue Firefly Chance.
Increased LMB Skill cooldown.
Increased health of all blocks.
Adjusted the curve of Pale Orbs received.
Lowered maximum Pale Orbs to 80 to match with other orb types.
Rebalanced node costs in the Evertree and Level Up.
Units now have faster movement speed and damage delay by default.
Added a tip to the mine reset screen reminding you that you can right-click units to control them.

The amount of Misc. received from destroying blocks is now multiplied by the layer the block is on. i.e; Layer 3 blocks have Misc. rewards multiplied by 3. This only applies to Misc., not ores. This will be shown as on-screen info later, but for now only the effect is present.

Humble Dirt Farmer perk increased from 3 to 10.
Humble Dirt Farmer perk now affects Wood on all layers.
The camera now pans to your current deepest unit when starting a new day.
Digger Damage nodes now give +2 Damage per level instead of +1.
Firefly Interval nodes now both give -0.5s per level.
Ferret Exploders now drop faster, but also move slower. This makes sense. That explosive is probably pretty heavy for them.
Ferret Exploders will no longer walk off of edges that're higher than 2 blocks tall.
Units are now distributed equally horizontally when being spawned in.

Ferret Exploder Damage nodes increased from 2 to 3.
Spirit Damage nodes in the Evertree have been divided into 2 separate nodes, each with a max level of 5.
Increased sprite size of Fireflies by 2x.
Setting: Spawn Away From Drill now only works if you have the Drill unlocked.
Diggers now inflict less damage on non Misc. blocks. Their description in Manage Units explains the penalty.
Adjusted default Sound Volume and Music Volume parameters for new save files.
Reduced volume of Button Hover and Button Press SFX.
Fireflies now play a looping SFX.
Fireflies now spawn relative to the position of your units instead of your camera.
Ghost Orb now inflicts 30% of Clickaxe damage, down from 100%.
Firefly Vertical / Horizontal Blast Ascension perks now provide a chance for this effect to occur, but the base effect always happens regardless.
"Load Savefile" has been renamed to "Play".
Bug Fixes:
Fixed: By default, your damage was multiplied by 2 accidentally.
Fixed: By default, the LMB Skill was inflicting +1 additional damage accidentally.
Fixed: Unlock Drill description incorrectly stated that it gains fuel from destroying wood/coal blocks.
Fixed: Day no longer increases when changing Starting Layer.
Fixed: Humble Dirt Farmer perk was not being applied to Wood.
Fixed: Humble Dirt Farmer perk wasn't actually working at all!
Fixed: Double Fireflies would spawn on the exact same spot as each other.
Fixed: Ferret Exploder's movement speed is no longer tied to the Fox Miner's movement speed.
Fixed: Level Up Perks that altered block health were not properly being applied.
Fixed: "Change Starting Layer" and "Confirm" buttons were not being translated.
Fixed: Block shake was incorrectly always disabled regardless of Setting.
Fixed: SFX was accidentally being adjusted linearly twice. Basically, they were more quiet than they should've been.
Fixed: Ferret Exploders were not spawning near the current starting layer and were always spawning at the top.
