WICKED: For Good (2025) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

Comments

I agree, I watched about 1h 30 of their reaction and got fed up of the constant comparison to the original movie so i turned it off, and it did feel like they were laughing at emotional points and downgrading the film. I love this movie to bits, and myself I prefer this one over the first. These two movies really hit home for me from my own personal experiences irl and I didnt like the way they spoke about this movie.

This was a really disappointing reaction for me. This was a very emotional movie for me and a lot of people and it felt very much like you were making fun of it. I get it that that was your honest reaction but I also have to the right to not be happy about how flippantly you took the entire thing.

The second act of the Broadway play has always been seen as the weaker act so I think it was always going to be difficult to make this movie live up to the first one imo. LIke you guys mentioned, the songs in this film weren't as catchy as they were in the first one and I also find the story being told in the first one more entertaining as well. It is fun though to go back and watch the first one again after seeing this and catching all the references they make in the songs/dialogue that hint to the transformations that happen in this movie (I don't want to say too much in case anyone reading this hasn't seen it yet)! I 100% understand why you guys feel the way you do and I think your reasonings are valid. It definitely does feel like they skip and leave out parts of the musical but the ironic thing is they actually added to it lol

Haha you thought they cut stuff, but they added so much. I think the additions they put in kinda hurt things because it's the second half of a musical so very streamlined. In the musical, the stuff with Bok and Nessa are very secondary and there just to illustrate how every time Elphaba does something good, it goes to crap. (And had a cute tie in to the movie(and establish Nessa as having some powers).) By expanding it slightly, it raised expectations to make you think they're actual characters rather than props. So instead of adding the no place like home and bubble songs, they should have expanded Bok and Nessa, and let her grieve more. It's also not supposed to be 1:1 with the movie. It's a loose musical reimagining of a book that is a VERY loose and dark reimagining of an old movie based loosely off an old kids' book.

oh also the reason the slippers are silver are for 2 reasons, 1. they are silver in the books (they were made red in wizard of oz so would pop more in technicolor) and 2. the red slippers are copyrighted
