GAME PROGRESS REPORT - MAY

Hey folks,

First of all, I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding and apologize for the delay of this patch.

As I explained about two weeks ago, I got hit by some nasty RL personal issues that caused me to have very nasty anxiety panic attacks for a full week. During that time, I was not able to even sit in front of a computer.

Because of this, all my careful planning to release the next 3072 patch update was affected.
I will have to adapt my schedule this month to make up for it, but I'll explain this in more detail in the work schedule post coming in a few days.

For now, just know that I'm planning to release the new patch end of June. (It will include all the new content, but I may need an .X patch to add Barb's gallery mode if I'm short on time.
With that said...

It's time for a new game progress report.

Disclaimer: I'm posting these to be transparent on game development and show progress done. However, it goes without saying that some of the stuff you see here may be considered to be spoilers. Although I do my best to keep the big narrative points out (and believe me, there is a lot I would like to show but that I'm leaving out for you to find and experience in the game).

This month's progress was focused on wrapping up the final patch for Barb, though obviously things didn't go as planned. Most of the work was done, but I'll need a bit more time to iron out bugs and playtest, etc.

Squeal little piggy didn't see much work this month because of what happened to me, but I want to get back to it this month if time permits.

- 3072 AD - "Warrior Ash" Barb route and more assets for Splatter -

As I explained last month, both game-over scenes and events are done.
Some polishing was done to one of them, as I wanted to add some special effects to sell the feeling of the "perception of time slowing down".

Aside from that, all the events and scenes to wrap up that story were done. Meaning that the player can get the last power cell and leave the level.

What was left to do this month was an "alternate" way for players to get that power cell without having to fight Barb. (Similar to the one with Bijou).

I won't spoil too much what happens narratively, but the short of it is, you have to get something in Splatter's level (Her new updated level), but you will have to avoid being detected by guards called "Hunter-Killers".

In short, you can think of this as a small teaser for Splatter's rework, as you'll get to see a small section of her updated Map, and even some characters.

Some other assets prepared for Splatter's updated fight will also be used in this scene.

I'll go over some of these now.


Splatter training area - Entrance -



The Entrance section of Splatter's new level and a room have been added to the game and will be used for the optional "stealth section" mini-game if you choose the route that avoids fighting Barb.

Some of Barb's goons called "Hunter-Killers" patrol this area, however, so you'll have to be careful and avoid them.

New characters



During this section, you'll interact with new characters. Displaying the new modular NPC format I'm using for this.


New splatter image asset

A new image asset to be used in Splatter's new set of attack rotations has been added.



- Conclusion -

Sadly, my perfect plan to get a patch release in May was disturbed due to my anxiety attack preventing me from working for a few days.

With that said, I still got some good work done, and the patch is very near completion.
It will come out in June (If I don't have any further anxiety attacks, as my financial situation is not fully resolved yet.)

But I'm pretty much certain the patch will release no matter what (it may just be without the Barb VR gallery feature added yet, and releasing that as a quick hotfix patch later).

But the point being, even though I couldn't release in May, it's very near a release state. So you guys can expect it this month.
