JURASSIC PARK III (2001) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

Comments

JP3 is B-Monster movie fun with great action setpieces (Pterandon Cage!), awesome Stan Winston animatronic dinos at a brisk 92runtime. Yeah the Alan & Ellie "friends" reveal is a bummer, and of course this movie is well memed for the "ALAN!" Raptor dream bit, but a good time overall... *Fun bit of personal JP3 memory is I got to work with longtime tv/film/stage actor & writer Bruce A. Young (Risky Business, Hot Shots, Basic Instinct, JP3 & Enough with J.Lo - he plays "Nash" the doomed pilot) in a 2002 production of "Midsummer Nights Dream" for the Nevada Shakespeare Festival in Henderson NV, he played Oberon (I played Lysander) and Bruce is such an awesome person! He did have some cool stories about his time working on JP3 (even with the difficult shoot/last minute script changes), especially how amazing the Stan Winston created Spinosaurus animatronic was!!

(Several things/observations/questions to say) 1.) How do you LITERALLY in only 3 mins ask if it was a "direct to video" movie (especially after saying you saw the last hour in theaters Gregory!) lmfao how do you guys judge that so fast?!?!? What are you seeing in those first few mins that I don't see!! TELL ME SO I CAN SEE IT TOO PLZ!! πŸ˜…πŸ€£ 2.) I was going to say usually big predators know that small prey need a water supply and hunt around water supplies so the coast (I agree with Ben) would be a bad idea lol 3.) I'm honesty super impressed with that kid he survived 8 WEEKS meanwhile full ass adults can barely survive a max of like 24hrs to 3 days in a group... Maybe alone is best to survive lol (kidding!) 4.) I just noticed the Spinosaurus can destroy an entire containment perimeter but couldn't destroy a rusty door lol that door must have had some serious "plot armour" 🀣🀣🀣 5.) My husband is a "dinosaur man" (not professionally) because of his love of these movies so he said that was a Ceratosaurus (at the spinosaur poop) I always called it a "Carnotaur" lol but I think I'm thinking of that Disney CGI dinosaur movie lol πŸ˜… 6.) How the actual (pardon my french) FUCK did Billy survive!!? Did the river end up on the coast? So the boats saw him?! Or did they fly over and see him? Hate there is no answers there but congrats to Billy on surviving lol πŸ˜…πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£ 7.) Would you say this movie was like 90% CGI and 10% practical effects? What ratio would you say all the film's (currently seen) have? I say the other two goes like this: 1st.) 90% practical and 10% CGI 2nd.) 70% CGI and 30% practical Great reaction and now after this movie I'm going in completely blind!!........ Well that's a little lie my 11yr old nephew ruined something for me when I said "Jurassic World" is next... He said there's a dinosaur that's like a "predator" that sees in thermo and camouflages so damn if that's true I'm kinda upset he ruined that for me because it sounds awesome!!! 😞 Anyways onto "World's End"

When I was younger I truly appreciated that this gave me the T-Rex vs. Spinosaurus fight immediately and up front. It truly made the Spinosaurus feel menacing in a way I thought nothing but the T-Rex could. Now that I'm older, I feel that I even more appreciate the bypassing of the "build up to the final boss-fight" trope. We wanted dinosaurs, and I feel like this movie, above almost any of the others, gave us dinosaurs! The Nokia Ringtone also became so iconic and was burned into so many people's brains after this movie. I remember seeing this at 16 or 17 years old in our hometown theater (that only had two screens and felt SO HUGE)...and it's a core memory for me. This was the establishment of the "find something more deadly than the T-Rex" trope in the films...(Indominus, etc.), but this was the one film that had the Spinosaurus completely own the T-Rex and just left it at that. Great reaction! Looking forward to the JW series (and Tara finally getting to see the shot she's talked about in every reaction thus far, lol).
