I think your post-movie discussion nailed it. This movie (to quote Faulkner) was full of Sound and Fury, signifying nothing. Outside of announcing adamantium (and then never talking about it again), you can miss this movie and not be behind the 8-ball for future MCU projects. Falcon & Winter Soldier, even with its own issues of story due to COVID adjustments, handled character arcs and social commentary so much better than this. I’m a big MCU fan … saw this in theaters … saw it again for this rewatch … and that’s enough. There’s no reason to see it again and am glad Thunderbolts gives hope the MCU retooling behind the scenes to get back on track might work.
