Edit: Also see the bonus Crystal Cave variants based on this map!
Good morning! The map theme poll for November came up as "underground" by a hair, so that's November's theme - and here's the first go at it! A cavern left by a former underground river that has either disappeared entirely or shrunk to a fraction of its size - or tunneled down into the earth to form a ravine! These kinds of caves are technically called soluable beds, I think, but I'm not a spelunker.
In any case, I prescribe a mixture of flying and digging monsters to make your player's life hell. Hide something behind the speleothems, or take note of the hole that's hidden beneath the pool of water. Maybe your dungeon entrance is down there! Or maybe something uses it for access to the water.
A full list of variants is included in the images above, including river/pool/ravine/dry variants for the caves, a set of canyons, various plot-device pools of strange colors, aquatic variants, and so on!

I wanted to do at least one "ordinary" cave map. A lot of cave maps I feel don't really capture the actual flow and patterns you see in real caves; they look more like artificial tunnels. Well, this is my attempt at a "real" cave. The next few will be weirder!
Greek did pretty well in the poll too. I figure I'll have to do at least one underground map based on Hades. Suggestions?
The desert canyon could be paired easily with my old Hava Falls map from last year.
Thanks for reading, and for your support!
