stuck in a dreaded limbo of a loading screen running windows 10 any pointers?

Hey! I reinstalled my Windows 10 the other day and now when I play the game the textures are really low res, there are no light effects and the models are broken. Is there something I need to install for the engine?

Yep yep! Optimization is phase 4, but I do plan to offload as much as I can to threads. As you pointed out, Unity is pretty much locked down for asynchronous operations, but I should at least be able to move some of the character loading / processing to workers. I *might* even be able to put physics on a separate core, which would be fucking amazing.

Fek: A suggestion for a major improvement - see what you do to use more CPU cores. With the demand this game places upon the video system, you can assume the system will have more than two threads, but that seems to be all that gets used. I know that Unity3D makes it hard to be mutlithreaded, but if you can find more work to spin off to other threads I think it will have great payoffs. It's a damn shame that in this day of many core CPUs the Unity3D designers were lazy about being thread safe.

Does anyone know the best way to contact Fek? I think I've uncovered the same memory leak issue a few others have mentioned as well as some other bugs in the Linux build and was hoping to help him debug. Fek if you're able to read this I'd be more than happy to send along any logs that'd be useful to you. I also have a couple spare SSDs that I can use to setup testing environments for future builds if that would be helpful. Really appreciate you supporting linux in the first place, often gets overlooked. Excellent game so far with lots of promise, all the guys giving you shit for bugs and instability in an alpha build can fuck right off. Cheers!

Not sure where I should be placing these comments but.. two things! When adding hairstyles I always run into a crash that sits on a loading page. Since the last two builds Second When all is said and done, will we be able to advance edit the characteristics of subjects? For example, if I wanted all test subjects to have plantigrade feet as opposed to anything else.

Fek, I've noticed you've added a whole area at the bottom of the .rack2character files for preferences and as I'm reading through them I find "exaggerated_masculinity", "normal_masculinity", and "countermasculinity". What do they mean?

Go into the central room (bottom floor) and to the left there should be this console setup with 6 monitors. If you go up to it and press e, then you go and find "paid research" and complete the puzzle you get money. or if you want to be a cheeky bastard you can go into console (~ button at the top-left of your keyboard) then type "money 10000000000" boom, you're a billioniare

It's intended. Could also just open the console (press ~ on your keyboard) and type in "sticky" (without quotes) before starting an interaction for some hands-free fun. Make sure to type in sticky again before switching interactions otherwise... some... fun things happen.

Hey, new to the game, I've got a question. In order to keep interacting with a test subject I have to hold down click, even if I set it to fully automatic. Is this intended or is there anyway to continue interacting without holding down left click. Thanks!

Games coming along nice mostly all I have noticed is that When you quit to the main menu it just hangs on a loading screen for me at least and usually I would have to alt +f4 the game.

Yeah the custom folder is empty. character files that i see is in the character folder (same folder as custom folder) but when I open the custom folder its empty both in appdata folder and where i saved the game. tried to copy those files but didnt work and it messed up my preferences too. dosent matter now what i pick in preferences its still random when im loading new characters in game. what to do? did a clean install too and tried again still didnt work.

So two things. I have put the custom characters in the proper file but wont show up on the test subject list. Secondly how do you look up the fetishes of the subjects?

I think it has something to do with the texture settings. Not sure why though. I was having this trouble as well until I manually went into the settings XML and turned the textures down. Currently have them set to about half and its hovering around 8Gb for me when all the clients are loaded. Also not sure if it's part of the caching while having multiple saves. Having 2 character's saves was causing me to instantly lock up on loading.

memory leak, uses 14gb of my ram while windows uses 2gb . it starts off fine and gradually uses more and more memory until it uses it all. it eventually crashes my pc

while in game, hit ESC on your keyboard and click the Wrench Icon button somewheres on that screen, it'll open up the game's folder. go to "Characters" and you should see your "Custom" folder in there.

My previous game was working fine until I tried to edit my character. It loaded normally, almost looked like I could get to editing, then gave me an unmoving load screen. The "thinking" animation was going, just not the loading bar animation. Unfortunately things did not improve when I started a new game. Now it stops loading when it gets to the client manager. It still gives every indication that it is still "thinking" it just goes nowhere. I did all of the standard things to reset like purging all of the fek files that I can find. I feel like I might as missed some as the problem continues so far.

i edit a char and put them in the custom area but edit the size and amount / force of the char details to a bit higher than normal. they load and function but if you use anything but the hand and member tool, i get really weird animations where the acting char head freezes in place but the rest of the body moves i mean its funny but it requires a manual shut down to get unstuck.

Yea i'm having the game go crazy when i use a barely edited custom char. the hand action gets stuck and can freeze but anything else causes my chars form to kinda turn into a ball and fold up and clip all over the place. i can hit esc but it locked in interaction mode and you cant seem to move at all. Right mouse however shifts the form around some.

I've found that the game isn't creating new NPCs or a new character if starting new but it will load the 1.7 characters. then breaks when you try to change your character in the shower by freezing and showing a static tan body with no head.

Boob physics kinda moved to left field (especially when it's "supposed" to be hitting something), and also the game no longer goes to the title screen when quitting the game in the menu, but otherwise it's still highly operational. Edit: I found that the models in my game have this weird dip right above their abdomens that makes them look like they haven't eaten in three weeks and you can see their ribs. Is anyone else having this problem.

weird. if I try to use my old characters, I get the city background, the rain, and I can move the camera, but nothing is there. if I try to make a character, after I do it just freezes while loading.

With everyone here saying they are having issues, just wanted to put out there I'm not having any major ones at all so it may be hardware compatibility rather than specifically code. Can make, recreate, edit, export and save characters in the same instance and the same game save. No crazy neck glitches. No crashes. No corrupted textures. The only problems I'm having is physics interactions with body masses, those same body masses and clothing (as Fek stated already, so no surprise there), a consistent loading freeze during a full exit, the requisitions officer defaulting to the 'order placed' dialogue upon first talking to them (which resets back to the correct dialogue if you exit out of the conversation then immediately interact with them again) and general unoptimized stutter-i-ness.

Hmmm noticing a HUGE stuck at exiting loading screen. It's a bit of a pain not knowing if it's stuck like that or the game is just loading a LOT. Surprised at how much the loading increased but it might be due to the new option sliders in the graphics options. Also Fek it might be a good idea to change the text color when choosing the clients to test on. The text is the same exact color for the glowing tube of light subjects are confined in which thus makes it hard to read said text.

Shivers the Tigerfox find and press the "~" key, (above the "tab" key) brings up 2 black boxes, one big, one small and long. click on the small one and type "help" and hit "enter" this will open a whole list of fun things besides giving you monies. =3

When you chose a client you can scroll with the left/right keys (or a/d i think) to chose from 6 different ones most times one of them is a client (green) if you choose this one you will get a bit of money.

My resolution is 3440x1440 and in some menues the font is still not in sight ;) And in the personel preferences i cant turn down the upper slider, they always slide up by themselves oO" This is what i found in a short view ^^

Mine works fine, maxing out the graphic settings causes some long loading times, but other than that its very cool. The massive FPS drop after a few clients is gone now. And also thanks for turning the B cheat back on. Stay awesome Fek!

Of course, the moment I say that, I manage to hit the bug again. If you're banging fast enough, at low enough FPS, the character on the rack has their neck do crazy things (in worst case, ending up with the head stuck on backwards). It's just a lot harder (for me) to trigger the bug now because the performance in this version is so much better than build 0.1.7.

Hmm, this build seems to have fixed the "exorcist neck" bug for me on the rack. When selecting test subjects (in the vats), they still seem to start out with their heads in a weird spot, though. It corrects itself in a second or so, but still noticeable. Also definitely notice less slowdown (probably memory leak fix?), and combined with the control scheme change, that makes this way better than the previous build.

trying to quit the application causes a hang and you aren't able to customize your character after the initial first time on a new game. Any attempt to alter your appearance causes the character to appear with missing textures or corrupted ones. this goes for new and old game saves. using the finger option in any fashion breaks the game. there are a lot of breaks in this version. its nearly unplayable. its still an awesome game

Yup. Even tried clearing the Appdata folder, and still no dice. I don't know about you, but mine gets stuck just on building the NPC's. It just hangs on the loading screen.
