Lilies 18-19 and other

A few days earlier: Lily's uniform. She's too cool for skirts.

Back to the present: The lilypad is slowly covering her up. Let's hope for Lily's sake that the plant does not fill to the top...

But but but....skirts are cute :P

Not to pile on too much because I see it has been addressed, but I can't help but voice my support for an alternative bad end. Nothing against Lily, on the contrary, it's a high compliment!

Geoff

I had a thought today, what if you made a separate tier for bad endings? Might be something worth doing a poll for. Because you've got the audience for it and by making it a different tier, it doesn't upset people who like good endings

June Doo

Wow I did not expect a book chapter, thanks for the insights. I'll send you a dm because I like this discussion and would like to continue it, but this is not really a convenient place to do that

zeroGravitas

I love Lily! Actually that's what makes the potential for a bad ending more exciting

Additionally, I would like to offer some suggestions regarding the length and structure of the story (of course, I'm not a professional, so you can just assume I'm talking bollocks _(:з」∠)_😂).I noticed that it takes you about 20 to 25 pages to complete one stage of the story. Therefore, I suggest that you could divide a complete reproduction story of an alien creature into 3 + 1 parts, totaling around 80 pages. Still taking the Rescue Party series as an example, the first stage depicts the story of the girl(s) encountering the monster and initially becoming a seedbed after being defeated (which corresponds to the content in Pest Control, around 25 pages); The second stage focuses on describing the behaviors and life habits of the monster (which corresponds to the first 21 pages of Rescue Party, including the cave structure, spider web traps, the current condition of the seedbeds, and the eggs' characteristic of being born prematurely when they sense danger, around 25 pages). The third stage serves as the concluding stage, where the girl(s) have fully integrated into this new ecosystem. The visuals should emphasize the symbiotic relationship between the monsters and the girl(s), aiming to capture them in the same frame to reflect that the girl(s) and the monsters are now part of a same ecological system (which corresponds to the last few pages of Rescue Party and Chapter 1 of Actual Rescue Party, totaling around 25 pages). The final stage I categorize as supplementary explanations, which mainly serve to satisfy the readers' curiosity about the subsequent developments, such as being rescued, dying (to be honest, I don't like this ending), or, years later, accepting their fate and dutifully fulfilling their roles as seedbeds within this system (these are all potential endings, largely up to you to decide. This is also why I think that Actual Rescue Party seems overly long; its opening section should belong to Rescue Party, while the rest of it has the potential to serve as Chapter 1 of a new story).

For example, in Giant Slugs, the massive slugs may use the captured seedbeds entirely as their reproductive organs due to their asexuality. If the offspring can successfully grow up, they would allocate some of the seedbeds to their successful offspring as a 'starting fund' for their development. The girl could then be passed on as property to a new owner after a few years, beginning a new journey. The monsters in Monster Hunter take the seedbeds back to their nests filled with sticky black mud. These creatures have a strong desire for control, to perfectly protect and maintain the health of the nurseries, they don’t feed them directly. Instead, they periodically inject nutrient-rich pus into the seedbeds' anuses and seal them up, controlling their intake and excretion. They even can employ some obedience tests, taming the seedbeds like pets to make management easier (this is my imagination based on your unfinished concept art; I hope you like it). In Marina Biology, the jellyfish, upon confirming that Elizabeth has the potential to become a long-term mother, brings her back to their group and adheres her to the ceiling of a small underwater cave with a sticky substance. To ensure Elizabeth can survive long-term while losing her strength to resist, the air injected into the cave is deliberately insufficient, keeping her in a state similar to intoxication. Being stuck to the cave ceiling also allows Elizabeth's belly to naturally droop, making it easier to observe the condition of the eggs in her womb. When the offspring hatch, they can simply fall into the water. (The life habits of these creatures are some ideas I came up with after reading your previous works. These are just my personal thoughts, and I hope you like them.)

However, as a sequel to Pest Control and Rescue Party, I feel that Actual Rescue Party is a bit too long. It would have been better as the beginning of a new story, exploring whether the spider babies born in this secure, high-tech environment can build their own 'big family' in such a confined space (of course, this is just my personal opinion). And stories like Giant Slugs, Monster Hunter, Marina Biology, and Big Game Hunting I think all have similar problems. They are excellent, but they abruptly end at the climax. The monsters seem content with impregnating the girls once and delivering the pups, which makes me feel somewhat pity. As beasts, they should have been more greedy, wanting to claim the girls as their own to do more—have more babies, grow their species, or even just satisfy their sexual desires.

Furing George

Let's still take Pest Control + Rescue Party, which I think is the best story line for depicting the ecology of alien spiders to me. In the beginning phases of the story, the alien spider's methods of attack and the description of the scene where it slowly restrains the girl and disrobed her little by little is incredibly engaging; then the spider cleverly sets up the nest as a trap so that the rescue team can't escape as well; and ultimately all of the captured girls become a part of the nest's ecosystem. You know, the sustainable greed you portrayed in those spiders made the whole story feel extraordinarily real to me. For the survival of their species, they utilize everything. From the moment the girls are captured and impregnated, they become a part of this alien natural ecosystem. But the spiders weren't just endlessly taking from the girls. In the latter part of Rescue Party and the beginning of Actual Rescue Party, you showed how clever the creatures were. They carefully place the 'seedbeds' in secure underground caverns, where they are well-protected and their health is meticulously maintained, with the plan for them to remain part of this 'family' for a long time. The details revealed in these scenes are simply amazing!

Furing George

(First of all, I would like to state that the following content represents only my personal viewpoint.) So, to summarize, I think the alien creatures in the story have much more potential to be detailed in terms of their behavior and ecology, rather than being depicted merely as tools for impregnating the girls. The focus should be on the creatures themselves, or more precisely, is their ‘reproduction process’, with the girls as mirrors to reflect the their ecology.

Furing George

can you elaborate on what you mean by potential here? after drawing the same scenario for a while i get to a point where i just want to move on, so endings are not always done very well.

zeroGravitas

Well, she's a hunter after all, probably that's what a hunter looks like when she sees her prey🤣. Actually, I don't think Lily's death is the key, what really attracted me to the author's story is his portrayal of the alien ecosystem, where integrating the girls into this alien system is the perfect theme for me (if the girls dead, there's nothing left for them to do but make fertilizer, they could've had more to contribute), and that's why I think the Rescue Party series is the best. The girls are just a ‘element’ of the ecosystem, what I really appreciate is the whole ‘ecosystem’ itself. A lot of details such as the way the spiders attack, the structure of the underground caves, the breeding methods, etc. are really well integrated and reasonable. The most impressive thing is how the author incorporated the girls as invaders into the system, making these foreign animals become a part of the alien ecosystem. Spiders successfully turned the girls into part of the hive, and this was done most successfully, which made it irrelevant whether or not they died at the end. In fact, I think a several other works by the author also had considerable potential, such as “Giant Slugs”, “Monster Hunter”, and “Marina Biology”, honestly I'm a little depressed that they weren't followed up.

Furing George

I wouldn’t say it’s that she made a bad first impression, I quite like Lily; I’d say it’s more the fact that the lily pad concept introduced the possibility of her getting eaten and some of us are kinda into that lol

The_rock_has_cookin

Yes, It seems that many people enjoy bad endings, it's a little weird. I mean I'm not against dead endings but I would tend to categorise it as an IF ending where I still want the girls to live. Not only could it preserve the potential for future development of the characters and help expand the worldview , but personally I think it's a natural long-term cycle, rather than killing the girls off wouldn't transforming them into seedbeds to keep spawning life better emphasise the mystery of an unknown ecosystem.

Furing George

I mean she did shoot that poor critter, from behind, in it's sleep and when it ran away, crying and trying to hide, she tried to axe-murder it. That's not a good first impression! Also her eyes look a bit more evil than those of your other characters :) In all honesty though, I just personally like grim endings in general, I don't have anything against Lily personally. I am sure she is a perfectly pleasant person, when you meet her at, like, an anime convention or something. As for her head size in the uniform picture, it's really just my first impression. I can't really shake it, but I'm sure it's fine, maybe I'm just too used looking at toons. I'm sorry, if that came of as rude, I do really like the picture and I do not see any other flaws in it :)

Jedah

If she escapes/ is let out we could see and Actual Rescue Party 2 Botany boggaloo

Unlucky13

I really hope that Lilly survives and makes a later appearance again. Beside, I don't really want to see dead girls. :(

Daniel Neugebauer

Really? Quite a few people seem to want Lily dead. Did she make that bad of a first impression that she needs to die? I mean, she did try to take out the critter, so maybe. About her body, are you sure, I don't really see it. I do see some other flaws now.

zeroGravitas

As others have noted, I really would like to see a bad ending for Lily, even if just as an alternative. That being said, the goop looks really neat, that is, really icky :D And I really love to see the picture of Lily in uniform, it's always great to see a few alternative shots of the ladies! That being said, and I mean no offense, but looking at the picture, her head feels just a tiny bit too small to me. But maybe that's just me ^^;

Jedah

It looks like Lily would be cameoing in future stories, so even if there is a bad ending it should be an IF ending. And Lily's intelligent device doesn't seem to be damaged, so logically Lily would still be rescued.

Furing George

I gotta second that, that’s a great suggestion!

Cmre

I hope she remains dedicated to surviving in the pod!

Tom bob

Even if you escape from the lilypad, you will be revenged and violated by the creature you shot. I think it will be a nursery like evie and jasmine

jaja

I want Lily to relax and enjoy herself more. An egg carrier needs to survive, right?

Double X Studios

Hoping for a bad end!

Papa Franku

Check out the depiction of viscosity and the reflection of light in that gel. I think the real kink here is tonal realism. Just off her right arm is amazing, but then that because of all the shadowy stuff to the left of the picture.

STND_ISSUE_BIOTISSUE

i might just give in this time and do that. no promises

zeroGravitas

I like Lily's uniform here, very dapper. She really does look like she's up to her rather pneumatic chest in trouble and I approve

James Gavin

An alternate early Bad End piece where it does fill up too far wouldn’t be unwelcome.

Dan G.

Nice addition it feels like the end is nigh!

Unlucky13

Looks like the walls are closing in on her! Literally! I'm hoping that plant fills up!! 😁
