patreon

When it rains it pours…

So back in March, I lost a graphic design client that was a huge chunk of my monthly income.

I have been trying and trying to grow my patreon to make up this loss, but growing a business is always fluctuating and takes time.

As a supplement to patreon, I have, for the last few months, opened up slots on my twitter for commissions - taking payment via PayPal.

I guess I’ll need to figure out something different for payments and transactions now, because I woke up to this alert in my PayPal app this morning. (See header photo)

I feel so defeated right now, like I’m just spinning my wheels.

For what it’s worth, I’m still working hard on Toxic and the next upcoming short story vignettes for you guys. I’m also planning a Halloween themed comic for this year as well.

Thank you all for your continued support of me and my work.

They basically said - we've been investigating you and have decided you're done. There wasn't any link or information to dispute their decision. This started back in may when I started taking commissions to supplement my income (after losing a large graphic design client) and they flagged my account for suspicious activity (taking more payments that were also larger than usual amounts.) I belive this is when they started looking into what I was doing. However, again - nothing on my invoices stated that I was doing anything NSFW.

It really does seem like you were singled out. I pay all my Patreon through PayPal so their inconsistencies are mind blowing. It is frustrating to have companies pass judgement like this and should be illegal. Offer a service and honor your agreements PayPal. I could understand if you were doing something against the law but come on - nude art is far from illegal. I wish you could grab their executives and take them to a few art museums and then have them explain the difference from what you do. Did you try reasoning with PayPal because their wording is extremely vague and could be construed in many different ways. Hell I just bought building materials from Home Depot through PayPal - can I claim Home Depot sent me supplies to build a sex dungeon so they should drop Home Depot - I swear I’m not building a dungeon but by their guidelines they should restrict Home Depot. I’m sorry to rant but I hate it when people are not treated fairly and equally. And I really hate large businesses having so much influence over our everyday lives. We really need to get politicians in office who work for people again. Stepping down from my soap box now.

yeah, there was never anything in my invoices that claimed anything sexual. I was usually something like "5 stage personal likeness commission" So it had to be someone that reported me.

Hoping for the better I know when it comes to electric transactions having the note or reason be more generic will help avoid issues

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. You work is so good - it's very unfair.

I was right. All the adults have left the room.

Just keep us informed on how we can give you more money

Thank you guys! I'm looking into different options for commissions. I had to reset the patreon payout method to direct deposit and they have put a 5 day hold on my account for security reasons. This is more of just a major headache than anything - like my whole system of money in and out was built on paypal

What about Google pay

Can I suggest Wishtender? It accepts card payments and you can have recurring payments too. They work with Stripe so all cards should be accepted. Hope that helps
