Dad Reacts to Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See

Comments

Theres still more AM! I feel like because Kevin loves their earlier stuff, you guys should listen to their EP “Who The Fuck Are The Arctic Monkeys?”. It’s only 5 tracks, and 1 is a demo of “The View From the Afternoon” from their debut. But you should still check it out, even if you don’t do a reaction. The other songs are great with that classic Arctic’s sound!

L Z1036

Love this, but...I would be forever grateful if you'd react to The Stone Roses, The Stone Roses. Probably my fav album of all time.

Daniel McGonnell

Don't say it's the end of the journey!! Both TLSP are great, plus the EP and the David Bowie cover...

Flor Suarez

I waited so long for this album since this is my favorite AM album. I knew Kevin would like this one. I was bummed out you wouldn't do it but at the end, it's great that you liked it.

Víctor Cruz Rojas

I never realise quite how many specific British references are made in AM records until I watch reaction videos hahaha. Totally didn’t know black treacle was a UK thing 😂 So glad you liked this album, it’s so nostalgic to me. Loved this reaction guys, thank you!

Zo

this is my favorite AM album, something about it is so warm and nostalgic

Matt Barth

https://youtu.be/vj77WwnCdHw?si=oP7arFb1rjrOMXhX In 2011, Alex Turner attended to KEXP while he was on US touring this record and I strongly recommend this video. The host is DJ Kevin Cole and he asks a lot about the concept and construction of this record, alongside with the censorship and what the title means. Alex plays 3 songs out of the record in acoustic shape, where his vocals truly shine. I think Kevin will get a huge boner with this video.

Lucas Freitas

please listen to weezer, preferably the blue album

Santiago Carrillo

Ya'll teasing Clipping too much 😭

Juan Marin

This was great as always. Please try the live version of this Love is A Laserquest, its so much more elevated! https://youtu.be/O7LtqEEQv34?si=hSgbpGb8cczYkP0Y

HannahP

more rock n roll!! i highly recommend greta van fleet!! any of their albums would be great, but the battle at gardens gate is surely their best!

ari

YESS!

ari

I'd do anything for you guys to cover that Last Shadow puppets record. The newer of the two that came out in 2017. 10/10 imo

Mike Donohue

I know this is usually most Arctic Monkeys' fans least favorite/most forgotten about album, but there are so many phenomenal songs on this album.

Sam Jarrett

As your local chemist, atmospheric heat which influences humidity, absolutely changes sound quality. I don't know what would make the best mix for a live performance, but greater humidity will cause more sound refraction, and better propagation. Wet air is denser and allows for faster travel and mote resonance.

Josiah Reynolds

Guys I urge y’all to listen to Shadowbox by mavi. one of The most beautiful albums I’ve heard this year and right in yalls alley. This is up there with his freshman album

Sebastian Leal

I am here, once again to request Empathogen by Willow. The album has features from both Jon Batiste AND St. Vincent (who Willow says is a huge inspiration for her artistically). Also, man. I know a lot of people don't love EVERYTHING by the AM, but I honestly love everything they've put out.

kelly

The Marias are 4 for 4 at this point for me.

kelly

agreed! i love that album.

noitarunkkari

Not sure if its on your radar but cant recommend I Disagree by Poppy enough. Incredible fusion of Rock and Pop unlike anything I've heard. Her transformation as an artist is incredible and i think y'all would love that album

Weston Titus

Hell yeah! 🥂

Landon Simpson

Awesome review and brings me back to this record which is also my least listened to in AM's catalog. Like some others have said the audio is low and a bit muffled

Varun Chhabra

<3

Alex actually did a different version of piledriver waltz for the Submarine soundtrack so it doesn’t surprise me that you loved that track! This era of the arctic monkeys is definitely one of my faves. Agreed would love some LSP next!

Tegan Bassett

Royal blood is a must listen

Jack Powell

The last shadow puppets next 👀

Tom

I absolutely agree HUMANZ is definitely worth the listen and reaction. It’s long but you won’t be bored nor disappointed ✨

VibeWithDal

On the tour for The Car, they performed ‘Don’t Sit Down Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair ‘ that was my first time hearing that song and it blew me away at how clean they executed the track musically and Alex’s energy really made the song stand out to me 🪑🔥

VibeWithDal

Glad you guys got around to this one! AM has such a special discography though that even the B Sides have a lot of treasures if you ever wanna take a dive into them. Also, The Last Shadow Puppets have 2 awesome albums to check out as well! PS: It'd be interesting to see Kevin re-react to Tranquility Base with his newfound love for it! I think it's just hard for a lot of people to go into it knowing only AM or a few of their albums and end up digesting it properly lol definitely a slow burn kind of record!

Memo Mondaca

Hey Landon, I just figured it out :) Cheers - Kev

TTT

I would add: -No Buses -Despair In The Departure Lounge -Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts -The Afternoon's Hat

Memo Mondaca

Dudeee yall should do speedrun by frost children and then their newest record back to back, the dichotomy between the two is crazy and they are both phenomenal records

Nic S

PLEASE DO SUBMARINE BY THE MARIAS NEXT!!!

yaretzy

air molecules have more kinetic energy with hotter temperatures, and the loudness of sound is dependent on the energy or amplitude of the sound wave. I also believe dry air actually dampens sound more than humid air, but there are probably a number of other factors that could influence things even more. I'm sure someone else with a better understanding of sound waves could come up with a more satisfying answer, I'm just some guy

Cooper

Love this album, especially in the summer

Jako Williams

yeah we've noticed after 2 videos. we are working out a fix

TTT

PLEASE finish tame impalas discography now with the debut record!!!

Gregory

is there a chance you will ever do gorillaz - humanz? i think connor once said, he isn’t a big fan, but i think you need to give it another chance. and i think it will be a great reaction, because kevin really liked the other gorillaz stuff and he will like all the hip hop features ( danny brown, vince staples, pusha t) I would love it ;) great video btw

Laurens Lego

Weirdly as a long time arctic monkey's fan I left this one out too, definitely going to listen through it some more after watching this one!

JB

Nice one lads. By the way, the band have an absolute banger of a standalone single from between their debut and second album, called Leave Before the Lights Come On. It’s one of the highlights from the “cigarettes in the alley” era that you’ve coined. Includes two very enjoyable B-sides too.

Conor

Love is a Laserquest is my favourite AM song of all time and its ironically because of the claustrophobic feeling you both described. Perfectly captures the very isolated and uncomfortable nature of the early stages after a break up.

Liam

This was the first album I bought on vinyl 🫶🏻

I.Maria

yesssa !

purplelinks

we got a sneaky little preview of A Stranger in the Alps and I'm so excited to see you guys listen to it!! interesting that it's a late August record to Connor cause it's an early September record to me (nearly identical vibes-but also completely not) not sure if Beach House is on the books or not, but if so I rly hope you guys get to them by late fall/early winter. something about Depression Cherry in December- that like, ethereal melancholy and walking through the first snow- idk. it's just right.

Cat

young thug!!! slime season 3 or barter 6 plssssss

Binod Dayal

Is it me or is the audio very quiet

betsinasa

Would be amazing to see The Last Shadow Puppets get covered, I'd also recommend diving through some of the Arctic Monkeys B sides if there are any eras you want a bit more of. I'd recommend these in particular: Too Much To Ask The Bakery Catapult Joining the Dots The Blond-O Sonic Shimmer Trap Stop the World I Wanna Get Off With You

Greer Galloway

Hoping you guys go back to aux 😭 sound quality was amazing before the switch

Landon Simpson

The album that soundtracked meeting my wife. Alex's lyricism is at the top of its game here, love the reaction per usual. And "That's Where You're Wrong" was a big hit in my individual reality. My favorite AM song, just beautiful and timeless.

David Yang

was so excited to see u finally did this album (all my own stunts is one of my fave arctic monkeys songs) would love to see u react to something from ethel cain or pinegrove!!

emily

Humbug is a confectionery in the UK. The title of this album was referring to the negative reaction Humbug got for being different. So Alex was saying if you had have tried the album(sucked the confectionery) then you might like it

Stefan spearey

You guys have to do the Last Shadow Puppets records next

Isaiah Nuñez

I forgot how much I loved this album! Thank you so much for this😅 would love a The Last Shadow Puppets reaction to complete the turner-verse

Ido Elazar

They are still just as good for me just have to catch them in a good venue and in the right part of the world or uk. I have watched them 2/3 times every tour they have done, Manchester, Sheffield, London, Hollywood bowl and they just get better and better. Love now how they have also recreated some old songs with the new AM/tranquility spin on them, like hellcat spangled sounds like a totally different song now just because of the new added sounds

Luke Smith

Great review! Would love to see a reaction to Sturgill Simpson's new album, Passage Du Desir (under his alias, Johnny Blue Skies). Perhaps a solo Kevin reaction?

Ron LaFlamme

Been waiting on this review for so long! Glad you guys finished their discography

Tara Rodriguez

Alex Turner is equally an incredible guitarist as he is lyricist and vocalist, he is an absolute powerhouse. And Josh Homme is on this record!! Particularly All My Own Stunts, he’s all over the harmonies.

Kailey Diogo

I wish you could have seen the Arctic Monkeys back in the day. Believe it or not, I saw them open for The Black Keys between Suck It and See & AM and it was INCREDIBLE to hear that energy live and insane that they weren’t headlining. I know I went with my boyfriend at the time but I forgot he was there, Alex Turner is and was something else ♥️😂

Kailey Diogo

Their best album!! Well my favourite anyways I have been waiting so long for you guys to review it! Keep up the good work fellas

Luke Smith

I did the same thing with the St Vincent show, bought two tickets with no one to bring, brought my GF along and she was mind blown just like Kevin was, She is always so good live. never a dull moment with her choreography and presence.

Byron King

Been waiting for this one for ages! thank you for doing it :)

Byron King

I love this album so much 🥲 such an important piece of their discography. I think it perfectly bridges the gap between Humbug & AM, it’s essential to their sonic progression. So romantic and lovely, and heavy hitting at the same time. So criminally underrated. Been waiting for your reaction to this one since you started the Arctic Monkeys journey. Would LOVE a The Last Shadow Puppets reaction! Especially the second album, that one is exceptional, so experimental and refreshing. Big love from Montréal ✌🏼

Kailey Diogo

One of my gf's favourite AM album ! Gonna watch it with her rn :)
