05-1 Tyche: A New Day

Tyche's been through some changes, and life in Faerie was not easy for her. Upon returning home, she began to rethink her style of crime-fighting. Although vigilantism was often easier than having to deal with the red tape of being a bonded police officer, it also held challenges... and some of those difficulties were becoming too difficult for her to justify.

Tyche has never particularly guarded her secret identity; a function of her powers makes it difficult for anyone to accurately remember what she looks like and, since she has never killed another human, this has generally been sufficient to keep her out of trouble. Now, however, she has eschewed her mask and openly announced her true identity. Naturally, this is creating issues, not least of which is the constabulary's need to be seen to enforce the law. Although no one wanted to take her in, her announcement left them no choice.

Due to her uncertain legal status, Tyche has had her license temporarily revoked, pending the court's decision. She still runs a clinic and animal shelter, but all medical decisions are officially being made by other doctors.

Tyche's costume needed an update, and, after some work, this is what I came up with. In many ways, it's comparable to her original costume, down to the color choices and texture of the fabric she wears. The design has changed; while it's still a fractal, it's more regular and a bit easier to imagine as an actual symbol.

In the past, Tyche has not carried weapons, apart from the stun grenade she used to wear on her belt. Since returning from Faerie, she's started carrying a somewhat larger weapon, worn on her left thigh. This grenade can be primed for impact or timed detonation and, further, is designed in such a way as to provide a staged detonation of sound and flashes of light, guaranteed to be thoroughly disorienting or even temporarily disabling.

Tyche has also started carrying a baton. The basic weapon is short, approximately two feet long, but it can also project a contained force field from either or both ends, turning it into a long staff or club. This is not a laser staff or lightsaber; it is blunt and cannot be used for cutting. Although the force projection has no mass, allowing it to be used with blistering speed, it does have resistance such that it can even be felt just swinging it through empty air.
