The rain has changed to a downpour. The headlights of passing scooters are blinding my eyes. The raindrops are hitting my face. I ride by touch. A gust of wind rips my baseball cap off my head. I slow down. Bikes honking and flying by. I turn around to pick up my cap. “This year's rainy season in Bali is taking too long,” I think to myself. I notice the sign of the Mermaid Café. A girl is standing under the awning at the entrance. She looks at me and smiles. I smile back and pull up. I get off the bike and shivering run under the tent next to her. The downpour gets worse.
