I updated the text, but I don't think it was enough to notify for a reread. And yeah, the pause then sentence thing is definitely something I do intentionally. I'm not really sure I'd say I have a personal style. A lot of the stylistic elements in this story are less specific to me than they are specific to Between Beast and Buddha. But I really like giving big narrative beats enough space to hit. If something important happens, my goal is for it to be impossible for a reader to miss, instead of getting buried in a paragraph of action. Cool to see someone noticing it. :)

2026-01-29 05:04:28 +0000 UTCWhew. The end cometh. Including the epilogue, I believe we're at four chapters left for book 2. I'm planning on taking some sort of posting break after it ends, but I'm still not quite sure of the form yet. Leaning toward maybe pausing Patreon for a month as I do planning. It'll probably depend on how quick that goes. My outline for book 3 is much stronger at the start than the end, so I might just post through it. Either way I think I'll be writing all through whatever for the break takes, just possibly either focusing on outlining or editing, or taking a break to work on another story for a time. I've mixed feelings about this chapter. I'm very happy with how the conclusion of what my notes call the 'Delve arc' thematically and story wise. But I think this chapter in particular could probably benefit from some copyedits when I have time. There are a few spots of dialogue and action I feel could be stronger. Also, I had a section I was sad to cut where Yang Wei mentions that the last time he fought a Foundation Establishment opponent it was his mother, when he was eight. And she broke several of his ribs with a backhand. It just didn't fit. Sometimes you gotta kill your darlings.
