Added 2023-11-02 04:55:06 +0000 UTCBack after my month off, feeling refreshed and keen to get back to things. I'm going to start taking days off during the week (or weekend I guess) to prevent burnout. It sounded counterintuitive to me at first, but taking a bit of time off each week allows me to be more productive with the work time I have.
My main focus for this month will be to make this dating sim function more like a dating sim, instead of...whatever it is now. Choose your own adventure, maybe?
I've already had some promising results with a kind of semi-random conversation system, so the player will be able to wander around town and talk to characters, with characters giving different dialogue each time. It might be a little repetitive at first, but I'm trying to build it to allow easy additions, so I can just add new options as I go.
This same system can also be applied to dates. I've decided to split them into two versions, "normal" and "special." special dates will be things like the dates in the game so far, heavily scripted storylines that can only occur at certain points in a relationship, while normal dates will be similar to the casual conversations, with semi-random dialogue and options to make them repeatable, but not monotonous.
At the moment, I think this might take up most of my time this month, but we'll see how things go. I'm going to start setting more achievable goals for the month as well, which means I won't crash in despair at the end of every month feeling like I can't do anything, instead I'll actually be meeting my goals, which means more content for you guys!
(Also this is my first time seeing the new Patreon format. No idea why they keep changing things to look as generic and unappealing as possible, I can't even tell what their new logo is supposed to be, whole damn thing looks awful.)
