Never got invited to birthday parties, never had a valentine. I, too, had an interpreter who had to follow me around everywhere I go and I got looks from everyone. I felt like a died on the inside with each look I received. But it wasn't all that horrible; I did have James Wilkson who was hearing and didn't care that I was hard of hearing. Others just whisper behind my back, laughing whenever I spoke up in class or be forced to read a passage in a book we were all reading (I hated that and I kept hoping for the teacher not to call on me to read every time). It was terrible but it would've been a lot worse if I didn't have that one friend who I'm still friends with to this day. And fun fact: I had an old classmate of mine told me that because of me, she decided to become an interpreter and she is one today :). She was one of those people who was like my friend.

2024-12-19 00:29:22 +0000 UTCYeah this is a fantastic episode. I get chills every time I see Regina give that speech to Kathryn. It was such a good way for the show to handle the cochlear topic getting brought up, as far as helping people understand the other side when I’m sure a lot would be like Kathryn and assume it’d be what’s best for everyone. I’m not always 100% on Regina’s side in all the arguments but in this case she nailed it. That family absolutely should be prioritizing learning to sign to connect with their daughter rather than looking for ways to change her that make things easier on them. I just love how the show handles these topics. Also the Emmett and Bay duo is ADORABLE 🥰
