2024-01-27 04:49:36 +0000 UTCTravis when you said that’s sad, that’s crazy when Donatella is saying there might be blowback to Gianni’s coming out like not being able to go into certain countries, the crazy thing to me is that statement is still true today. It is still illegal to be gay in many countries in the world. As much as the world has changed since Gianni’s death a lot is still the same. These types of conversations are still happening with lgbtq+ celebrities. I have a great example of this too. Chris Colfer (Kurt on Glee) is an author. He writes children’s books but because he is openly gay there are places that will not publish his books. So yeah I think Donatella is right to be worried about her brother and what could happen if he comes out publicly. I also see Gianni’s side of not wanting to hide anymore and wanting to be free to just be himself. I will echo what someone said above that I love how they juxtaposed the 2 interviews. I think it is also really crazy how so much of this show is still relevant to today.

2023-06-28 02:21:52 +0000 UTCI think it was so brilliant the way they juxtaposed the 2 interviews, with Versace getting to be glamorous and photographed proudly with his partner by his side and Jeff having to be hidden in the shadows, though both of them showing bravery by telling their stories and taking huge risks for their careers.
