It's a "MEANWHILE" situation where we see what the real Fehr's up to. Remember when Zeiss referred to a certain virus earlier? That's what Fehr is activating right now until, in cheesy 80's action movie fashion, Gavol interrupts. Using an imaginary gun he pulls an imaginary trigger and somehow manages to unleashe a massive explosion.
It's probably too late to stop what's going on, but at least we'll uncover what the virus does.
