How did I end up here

In the Summer of 2010 I was sitting at my uncle's kitchen table telling him that the year before I had driven straight through Utah to Las Vegas for a photoshop conference, but that this time I wanted to see more of it. My uncle lives high up in the Sangre de Christo's in a house made of straw.

He had me go out to my car and get my atlas. I didn't even have a smart phone at the time. There was no Patreon, no instagram, barely a tumbler. He circled a town on the map, and told me if you are stopping to see national parks you need to see Forks, Washington. Two months later after hiking through Zion, Yosemite, The Redwoods, and Crater Lake...I walked into the Hoh Rainforest, and a part of me knew I needed to be here more.

It took me 6 years to get out of Philadelphia to Seattle, and with that move I started making it to my favorite place once a year. Iceland is incredible, New Zealand is Incredible. Nothing is as difficult and inspiring as this Peninsula in the North West. I long to be surrounded by the heavy moss, the every falling mist, and drip. The cold clouds of fog moving in from the sea. I return again and again thinking maybe I misremembered, maybe it is not as beautiful and compelling as I am building it up in my head.

But it is. While I don't live there. I'm finally close. What used to be 50 hours drive is less than 4 now. Like the drive from my home growing up to Pittsburgh.

This is just a single image from the 48 I just released on my last trip to the Peninsula with Nicole and Poppy
