The hues of summer are a battle. I have learned not to trust my own eyes because they are deceitful. I am looking at the subject, at the light, at the scene, and I think I am seeing one thing, and when I take that first photo I am met with the truth. There are really only a few hours of the day that our brains can't color correct what is in front of us.

While for a camera I have found its brain incapable of color correcting anything. Turning on AWB to me is essentially telling the camera you would like to be disappointed in it. Turning it on in a summer forest is essentially a comedy.

This year I learned to love my field in the summer. The consistency of light, and compositional elements at my disposal made every photo shoot a piece of cake, but still in the interest of challenging myself on more than a few occasions I pushed myself to enter the woods, track down good light, and then go through the somewhat long process of getting the color to the place I wanted it.

While the color correcting for this incredible shoot with Freshie was hardly fun, the end result of bring yellows, and greens in a summer glow made it absolutely worth it. Everything I do brings me some satisfaction, but the images that turn out perfect after a little bit of a fight with light always feel especially rewarding.
