With the death of Tumblr and Zivity I know have nearly a decades worth of work that will be forever disappearing from the internet, and I've decided to give that work a new home here on Patreon.
One of the number one questions I hear is how did you get your start...which is pretty much impossible to answer. Like all things you start off small and you work your way up to your bigger goals. Nicole is constantly saying it takes 10 years to be an overnight success, and she's pretty much right, but I think 10 years if you are lucky, for most of us we can expect to take much longer
So over the next couple of months I'm going to be revisiting a lot of work, that on December 17th will be permanently removed from Tumblr.
My first shoot with Shilo was one I had been looking forward to for quite some time. I'd been on the road for nearly four months, and needed to get back to my home in Philadelphia as quickly as possible for a job interview. I left Seattle and drove non-stop to Chicago. The thirty hours on and off were split between me and my friend Steven (@thisnormallife). We got to Chicago where I immediately laid down for a quick nap while Shilo got ready for the shoot.
The window light in this place was incredible a giant semi-opaque white window that just made shooting a breeze. Which was great because I was barely functioning on what had been just a few hours sleeping in the car, and had I needed to set up lights I think I might have died. Also great is that Shilo is one of those models that needs basically no direction. The shoot honestly was made effortless, and we had absolutely incredible results.
After we wrapped things up I packed up, and sped home for an interview as an assistant shooting weddings for a company near Philadelphia. I didn't get the job.
