Up until now I have been regularly disappearing on you all to do the work that Nicole and I do. It's just part of the job. Life on the road is hard. Explaining a trip with a single post is even harder. So I want to try something new starting now.
How did I end up in Brazil? So many things have come together to bring us here. Right now I am sitting in a cafe, a man is playing the Harp behind me, we have created the image I came for and now we are chasing extra credit.
The idea for Brazil began for me in Iceland. Tielly Ogura attended my Arctic Nude workshop and after her presentation before the workshop even began I knew she was going to be a person we would endeavor to continue traveling and creating with. Her passion for and thoughts about her work are thrilling. A "student" that inspires me. On our 7 hour trip back to Reykjavik my mind wandered, and I realized we needed to go to Brazil to work with her.
We convinced a few of our fellow seatlites to trust us and then we put all of our fates into Tielly's hands.
Somewhere along the way I fell into a deep depression and spent an entire winter watching naked and afraid. I didn't get much done, but I was intoduced for the first time to Lençois National Park. I envisioned the image above, related the thought to Tielly and she organized travel the likes of which I have never experienced to get us all there.
From Seattle to Lençois is a long journey. I'm not sure what the travel time between the two is as we broke it up considerably, but to put it into perspective from Lençois to our second location we took a safari vehicle, boat, car, 4 planes, a bus, and then 1 more car. It took us 31 hours, and we are still in Brazil.
This is by far the most remote place we have ever created. It's the longest we have traveled continuously without finding some sort of way to lay horizontal. And also it's been one of the more punishing landscapes we have created within. Waking for miles up and down dunes in sand, and wind, and sun is quite the endeavor.
I am sure our seattle compatriots Kristy Jessica and Lillias Right did not know what they were signing up for when they agreed to come on as I didn't even know.
But this is where we are. This is the shape of our journey, and there is so much more to come.
