Nik Hampshire and Nicole Vaunt in the Wissahickon

Will this be the last time I walk these trails? I doubt it but it could be. I try to treat every trip we do like its the last time we will ever be in these places...even the places I have been hundreds of times.

The truth is I almost always go back, but they are never really the same. A flood comes washes away the fallen trees, the trees moved un-dam the stream, the stream flowing empties the pools we have swam in. I can know the paths like the back of my hand, and one day the path is gone, or widened the city is always encroaching, threatening to drown out the safe places we search for to create.

But this trip to Philadelphia, the trip to get rid of our home for five years, empty it of our things, and put it on the market really could be our last where we had the time to shoot in the Wissahickon. I found this spot my first week of living in Philadelphia in 2006. I was living in Germantown I walked through the neighborhood, saw more and more trees and kept walking. I didn't have a smart phone or a GPS then to drop a pin, so I got there and back not even knowing where I was going. I found the park. I found the stream. I've been shooting there ever since.

My earliest shoots with so many people where in this park. People that started as peers and became friends, people that started modeling, had a career, and have moved on to other parts of their lives and out of our industry all while I shot in these woods.

All things keep moving, and changing.

Its funny I've wanted to shoot men for Into the Wild for as long as I have been shooting Into the Wild, but male models are harder to find in our little industry, and nude male models even harder, but here on my very last shoot in the Wissahickon Nik, Nicole and I set out to shoot. The end of one chapter, and really the beginning of another.

I hope you are all as excited as I am to follow this new stream, and see where it takes us.
