Added 2017-07-09 18:00:01 +0000 UTCDoing something new is always a challenge. Until I figure it out every shoot feels like a test shoot, and sometimes the series is an endless test. As much as I love how the images for Pulp are turning out I am not really looking for consistency. No two shoots have really been the same. I keep changing my lights, the window light changes, our dreary winter weather has given way to a summer sun, and with that the color and brightness of the light pouring through our front window has changed as well.
I could fight it, add more light inside, but where is the fun in that. I love the drama of the now incredibly directional light as it falls across Hailey in this set. I love the way she moves around the house revealing much more of our living room, and dining room than I've used before. This is after all our home, and its primary function is not for shooting.
I think that is why these photos feel special to me because this is not really a set we've made to do a series. Its a place Nicole, Amber, and I have made for ourselves, and sometimes I just happen to take pictures there. I work from that table, we lay on that couch, put on records, and live.
Pulp is not a real series. Not in the same way that other things feel to me. Its almost a snapshot of home, and what our guests make of that same space we share.
