Cervena Fox for Into the Wild
Added 2017-07-05 02:00:01 +0000 UTCLast summer I made my into the forests of Philadelphia for what would be my last trip. We had to shoot quickly, but fortunately by now or I guess then I knew the woods like they were home where the light was good and when it would bounce off my favorite pools.
Now I'm probably back home packing up the last of my things to leave Philadelphia for good. This city will always be the first place I felt like I belonged, and really the only place that I think I could move from rural PA to, and end up where I am now. It was impossible for me to imagine when I was a kid living outside of the town I grew up, now its impossible for me to imagine being back.
But these trails reminded me of my childhood, but now instead of looking for a place that I couldn't be found by dickhead rednecks or cops, I was looking for places to create. They tended to be the same places I would have searched for as a kid...somewhere safe, shaded, and beautiful. So as Cervena and I walked through the woods I knew we would get to the perfect spot, and then we found it...the shade and dappled light to shoot in.
In the 20 or so minutes we had to shoot we hiked, shot, and got back home just in time to feel fully melted, but also accomplished.
