Sorry for the brief lull in updates everyone. I spent the last 11 days touring around Iceland for a workshop that I was invited to guest teach at with the incredible Cam Attree. I had ambitions of being able to settle down in the evening and post a few updates, but even with internet at the end of each day I was beyond exhausted, and so I figured rather than doing something for you guys half assed I could wait a few days and deliver you the type of updates to which you have become accustomed. I'll be posting a huge update in the next few weeks all about the workshop that I believe is really going to blow you all away. I'm still blown away.
But before all of the travel I had managed to spend a couple of weeks home and shooting in the forest near my place. What I love about Philadelphia is you don't have to go very far to find nature, and when in nature you don't have to go very far to find some place beautiful. The landscape isn't the dangerous type that people adventure for, but its calm, peaceful, and beautiful in its own way, and while there if you take the time to really look at it you can create some amazing photos. Waterfalls, glaciers, and the desert are great, but they aren't the type of place you can really take your time to shoot. I feel like the Wissahickon gives both the models I work with and myself the amount of time to create work a little more subject focused, and maybe even a little more emotional rather than awe inspiring. Both are great, but I think its this mix of focus that allows my work to carry a little more depth.Working with Kelsey is always a breeze. Finding a nice place in the forest to shoot at and using my Sigma 50mm F1.4 lens we spent 30 minutes or so shooting in the beautiful calm waters of the Wissahickon. She moves effortlessly from pose to pose and I just do my best to capture them with the right amount of focus and depth of field, while not falling face first into the water with my camera in hand. Honestly, the hardest part of a shoot with Kelsey keeping my footing on the slippery rocks.Full Gallery
