The pine barrens of New Jersey have been one of my favorite local spots to hike and swim for a few years now. A beautiful walk through the woods takes you to an old sand quarry filled with beautiful blue water. I've done a few shoots over the years at this remote beach, but never really taken the time to shoot in the woods that lead to it.
Lauren had never done any modeling before, but we have done a bunch of hikes through the woods, and when I asked her to shoot she said yes immediately, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, and take her to my favorite spot.
It was a beautifully cloudy day, and we shot right around the golden hour, so the light coming through the think pine trees was absolutely amazing. I love how much color, and texture the forest provided us with. Gorgeous greens, reds, moss, pine needles, tree bark, all complimenting or contrasting the shape of a human subject. It was pretty cold, so we managed to shoot fairly quickly about 30-40 minutes of actual shooting, but in that time we found a bunch of amazing little spots to shoot.
We did a clothed look as well, that I am still playing around with. I've been working on a new Adobe Camera Raw preset, something sort of haunting, and none color correct. These were all shot with my Sigma 85mm F1.4. The perfect lens for a dense forest.
