Fall is coming to an end. Most of the leaves that have adorned the trees for the past couple of weeks now litter the ground. My friend Maya, who I have known for years and years and years, before I was Corwin the photographer, and I have set up a shoot for the woods in Philly. She has never modeled before, but the way she moves just in real life has always been thoughtful, and beautiful.
We head off on a cloudy day and hike back to one of my favorite spots. The leaves while having dulled a little in the rain, and sun photograph beautifully. I don't know what it is, but some days the forest can look so dead, but the camera breaths life into it. I can't always trust my eyes. Maya having never been in front of a camera before, at least not like this immediately moves into a beautiful pose, and we are off.
The light, the moss, the leaves, the poses everything is coming together. We move from rock to rock as she continues to amaze me. I love a day where everything comes together just right. A day where you take a chance work with somebody brand new, and you create images that the two of you can stare at in awe. It keeps me going. Keeps me motivated to take more chances, try more new things. Is it the forest or the people that inspire me...a little bit of both.
I hope you enjoy Maya's shoot. I'm sure there will be more as its something she's fantastically gifted at.
These were all shot with the Sigma 85mm F1.4 at F1.4 with ISO varying between 200-800.
