We disappear into the warm summer forest. The ripples of the water reflect leaves and sky. They reflect the beautiful shapes V creates by contorting her body perched precariously on a small creek rock. There is a romance to it, summer in the woods, that goes back to my childhood. Hot days spent hiking and swimming in the Susquehanna or Yellow Breaches. I'm drawn to the fresh water to create and to relax.
Holding a camera in my hands while the sounds of a creak surround me is meditative. Its a challenge I'm always happy to meet. An easy challenge with somebody as talented as V in front of you. The poses she strikes inbetween poses are beautiful. Thoughtfully poised thinking about how she will transition. I've become more drawn to that contemplation the more I shoot. Its like capturing thoughtfulness. You can tell a lot about somebody by the way they move through the forest. I stay close to the surface of the water shooting to best capture all the textures reflecting from its surface.
We hike around the woods we've become familiar with. I've lost track of how many times we've made this hike. I think our first shoot was some time back in 2012 or 2011. I've learned a lot since then. Its amazing to be able to revisit the same places with the same people and see how much you have progressed. We've come a long way.
These were all shot with the 85mm F1.4 at F1.4.
