Svala for Into The Wild
Added 2015-10-10 22:18:46 +0000 UTCMy last day in Iceland I was like enough to meet up with Iceland's very own Svala (http://www.modelmayhem.com/3528703) and shoot a few locations around Reykjavik that she knew much better as a local. It was really awesome to explore a few places we had definitely overlooked when I planned out the trip, and despite the heavy rain and wind we managed to get some really fantastic photos.
I found the intensity of the colors in these places to be amazing. The deep blue of the ocean and deep reds of the volcanic rock were amazing, and Svala posed beautifully in some incredibly uncomfortable spots to create these photos. Between the cold ocean, cold rock, cold rain, and cold wind I was blown away by her dedication to getting an image. After two weeks of traveling and sleeping in the car Nicole and I were pretty worn out, so it was really re-invigorating to have Svala show up and inspire us to create even more.
For these photos I primarily used my 70-200mm F2.8 as it works best with the rain jacket I got for my camera, but I did break up the 17-40mm F4L a little bit when the rain let up. As long as it wasn't raining to hard I was able to get good images with frequent wiping with my micro fiber cloth.
