Nature in Los Angeles especially secluded nature can be difficult to come by, but the number of models that reside there who are incredibly talented makes hiking out into the forest and shooting sneakily mandatory. I drove up from Hollywood to Stony Point in the late afternoon to meet up with Alysha and shoot in a popular rock climbing area called Stony Point. To get to a spot that was secluded, had nice light, and provided an area that worked compositionally was a little difficult. The trickiest part was in addition to having to look around for people that may see and find offense we also had to look up.
After a lot of hiking and scampering into parts that are significantly less trafficked we managed to find a beautiful spot between two boulders. We did this entire shoot in about 10 minutes avoiding the dappled light from the trees, and taking advantage of the vegetation that grows in the desert to create an interesting foreground. I used the 85mm F1.4 to shoot all of these for an optimal out of focus quality, and we shot quickly to avoid having any climbers come upon us.
Shooting with Alysha has always been such a breeze. We find a spot with light, and the images make themselves. Having such talented friends is really quite amazing.
