Beaches, the sandy ones at least, are normally one of my least favorite places to shoot. On the east coast of the United States they are bright and sunny camera killers with pretty much no place to find a soft shady spot for photos. I avoid them at all costs. But out west there are some places were the beaches are absolutely magical. Huge sand stone cliffs lead down to small beaches and provide a beautiful subtractive lighting situation for shooting. I love these spots, so when I got the chance to shoot Andrea Margaret on Rodeo Beach outside of San Francisco I was ecstatic. This shoot went as easily as an outdoor nude shoot can really go. The nudity laws in San Francisco are incredibly lax, and when we saw the naked man jogging up and down the beach we knew we were probably in the free and clear. He did come by and try and talk photography with me a few times, which is plenty awkward, but we agreed at the end of the shoot that its probably the first time we have all been comforted by the presence of a nude guy in public.I shot these switching back and forth between my 17-40mm F4 L lens for the wide shots, and my 70-200mm F2.8L lens for some closer ups. I am trying to branch out more and use my longer lenses for outdoor nudes to get less depth of field and more compression.https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ozd13gkb54t2dxx/AABKidZ5zz2RgFMcSW7zpVI_a?dl=0
