I haven't actually been home for winter in years. I almost always plan time on the road, so having this many months in Philly, and not being able to shoot outdoors has been a little crazy. I've done a lot of shooting for Temperance, and all of that shooting makes it a little hard in the struggle to not start taking the same photo over and over again. Fortunately when Kacie Marie came down this weekend, we decided to do something completely different. The vast majority of my shoots for Temperance are done with a 60 inch alien bee soft box, and a 1600 watt alien bee head. I just really like the softness of the large light source, but for these I decided to mix it up. I used my pro photo head with the pro photo beauty dish, and instead of letting the strobe fire just used the modeling light. This way I would have enough light for my subject, but not so much light that it would make it look as if the fireplace wasn't even light. Fire is light after all. These were all shot at ISO 1600 with my Sigma 85mm F1.4 which has really become my work horse lens this year before it was my Canon 24-70mm F2.8, which I shot with almost exclusively for nearly 6 years, but now that I have upgrade to two camera bodies I tend to keep my 17-40mm on one, and my 85mm on the other. The only downside of the 85mm is that I do tend to miss focus a little bit more since the DOF is so low. I'm kind of into the occasional out of focus image, but I know its not for everyone.Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/s0kbwtdt0plur88/AADVPK4ufyzAhbafyTVMk7QRa?dl=0
