I've been traveling to Columbus, Ohio since my first road trip in 2009 when Sophie King promised me tacos if I stopped through. Having the spent the vast majority of the money I had saved up working for Hewlett Packard doing data entry 60 hours a week, and really wanting to work with her anyway, there was no way I was going to turn down a free meal. Those two days put Columbus on the map for me, and I made an amazing friend.
Flash forward to my last trip. I had reached out to Reed about shooting on Instagram, and we quickly planned to meet in Columbus to shoot in Sophie's backyard. This trip Vaunt was kind enough to supply me with a bunch of retro clothing to travel with and shoot. Right around sunset and for probably about half an hour afterwards Reed and I captured these images.
I'm currently using the Canon 5d Mk II for my shoots. I picked up two bodies for cheap when the MK III version was released. I love how it performs at higher ISO's especially with the Sigma 85mm F1.4 I used for these images. I've never been one to back away from having noise when i was on film I always preferred 1600. I try to keep the apperture around F1.6 or F1.8 so the majority of these were shot around there, and ISO 1600-6400.
