Weekly Poll #22

As always, if you're in the Master Cartographer tier or above and have any suggestions for the next poll leave them in the comments below or come join the discussion in the Map Suggestions room on the Discord!

We also had some ideas of making some more 'usual' scenarios that would be of more use to a wide range of players, especially for those trying to get their campaigns going, like bandit camps, crossroads, abandoned windmills, cave entrances, woodland paths. What do you think? Leave your ideas in the comments below.

City Rooftop Chase is the winner!

yes and I love it ... just the idea of a party having to face three different wizards of such different styles, along. Combines with experiments, messes, ect. Imagine combined undead mixed with steam-works and special potions :P ... and how crazy the whole place would seem .. heated by steam, electrity for Frankenstein experiments in the attic, hotboxes and gardens for the Alchemist. so many different things combined. Ir perhaps better, as a starting point for hundreds of adventures as these guys pay good money for their varied needs ... dragon bones, rare herbs, special metals and components for the artificer.

Our thoughts exactly. It's great having really niche maps and we still want to be working on those each month but i think there should be a balance with some more standard scenarios too.

Cze and Peku

As for building interiors we actually setup a patreon just for that but we're going to discontinue it soon: https://www.patreon.com/citymaps/overview We also have a marketplace/city square map if you've not seen it yet. Plains/forest/desert are big, common themes we'd like to target for a while but of course we'll also keep running polls ofr the more niche ideas.

Cze and Peku

We could definitely attempt that, one mage per floor perhaps! Did you see the mage tower we already released?

Cze and Peku

We've been discussing that idea too. Maybe doing a poll of our old maps and seeing which one people want more of. I think the Pirate Tavern map could definitely be extended.

Cze and Peku

Goblin camp is something that I think a huge amount of campaigns start with so we might work on that soon!

Thanks Sonya!

Amazing, thank you!

It already exists! https://www.patreon.com/posts/ancient-map-room-24806981

Hey guys, would you be able to put together a post that links all the maps in one sort of library or collection? Making everything easier to find

Gavin Farrell

a mage tower with three brothers ... one an artificer, the second a necromancer, the third an alchemist ,,,, and the unholy mess between them.

Jalen

We've decided to take a break on the project now, but we actually had a patreon for a while just dedicated to releasing buildings that people could use for making towns: https://www.patreon.com/citymaps/overview

I had the same concern at first, but some of the different props combined with the more "plain" variations lets you make a map where your players don't have to be flying. Instead, it could be an awesome combat location for any winged creature while the players are on one of the "rock" props or the "outpost" prop. Could make for a very cool parallax-style map (think similar battles from the SNES era of RPGs on mountaintops).

I'd love some more generic stuff just to help cover some of the basics for everyday encounters: Building interiors, courtyards, city squares, marketplaces, a plains/forest/mountain/frozen/desert/ocean pack, etc. That's the main reason I voted Royal Throne Room. It's a basic need of many campaigns and yet I've never seen a (good) map for one, and the variations could cover a range of other needs like Temple Altars, Tribal Leader rooms, simple color variations for campaigns with competing kingdoms, etc. The niche stuff is always amazing, but it is hard to make proper use of them most of the time. I think we'll be happy either way!

Julian Kluk

I'd love to see something that can tie in to an older map. ie, giving more streets for the market, or a longer path from a keep.

Callum Hiscock

Goblin camp is a classic I'm often wanting to use, but I think the throne room will fit your style really well and be useful in a variety of campaigns.

All the variations are insane)

I agree! Some of these are neat, but I can't see myself using a lot of the ones dropped recently. "Mid air dragon fight" *sounds* cool, but it's not something my players will ever encounter.

Maybe token pieces that we can piece together to make our own town and stuff? Idk, I love the town market map, but I just wish I can expand on it some more. Doesn't have to tokens, just buildings we can piece together to make towns would be cool.

I think a very good idea to go for some more standart scenarios rather than the cool-but-very-niche ones we had more regularly over the last few month.
