May 2023 Status Report

A bit late on the report, and I straight up didn't do one for april. Well, these things happen.

How do I put this succintly...My move was complete and utter hell, and a total clusterfuck from start to finish. And it isn't truly over yet. I've had a ton of issues with my 'brand new' desk, that ended up being a wobbly, overengineered piece of shit that I can't even put screens on without them shaking so hard when I type I started immediately feeling nauseous. That was the primary reason why my pace was killed early on, and why the chapters stopped coming.

I solved the problem with a wall mounted monitor so the wobbling wouldn't make me throw up every time I tried to type up a paragraph. I'm not even going to discuss all of the issues with furniture, the shower, ect. But it was stuff that was resolved ,or I got used to, decently quickly.

Then the heat went up, and I turned on the new AC.

It, in order : went in full shut down from a software error, flooded the appartment with water, had several miscellaneous faults, and now had a catastrophic coolant leak of HIGHLY FLAMMABLE GAS in my fucking home. I am BEYOND done with the company who has installed it, and spent the last week and the beginning of this one with their technicians and people trying to fix the ungodly mountain of shit they put together. And it's not even done, they still have more work to do to get that pile of scrap back into working order.

I'm now also dealing with the mountains of paperwork from my university for the end of my sabbatical, not to mention all the stuff in parallel from having book three and four undergoing publication, and ongoing strife with my family and other personal crap I really, REALLY don't need right now.

Which reminds me : Book 3 of the Fallen World has had its release date moved forward to the 20th of june. I will do an announcement on RR a week before the launch proper.

Not exactly very professional as far as reports go, but this was never the point of these things. There are upsides : by the gods my new place is quiet. It's not perfect, but it's a HELL of a lot better than the previous one, and I can finally sleep and work in peace, at least most of the time. So hopefully as the problems and teething issues are resolved, I'll be able to increase the pace again. We'll see I suppose.
