Hi,
I have been busy writing the ground combat routines this week and creating the assets. Today I started with integration and can hopefully test the game loop soon.
player can staff the armoury with up to 3 defense bots (protector and infiltrators)
an incursion even will have up to 3 thiefs, mobs enter the ship trying to steal stuff
defense is done in an rpg style combat loop
the text and buttons are only placeholders for design and will look better in the final iteration :)
The screenshots show the mockup of the combat stage which I will be implementing the next few days. You can see the chibis and the extra screen shows some action icons (decided to go with a cyber motif)

I know this RPG combat is a big change so close to the ending of the game and will take up about two weeks more, but I am looking forward to learn sth new while doing it AND it would also allow for an away mission expansion. Imagine if you can beam down on any planet or location for a combat encounter, leveling up your bots or your crew and gaining loot...!
If everything works out I will publish a rpg game loop test version next week in the beta channel!
