Poll Results - Major Features

Here are the poll results on the VIP Poll regarding the main additional features (of which I can only realize one per version time-wise). Selection items were:

Feature 1 - Space Combat

Feature 2 - Wreck Exploration

Feature 3 - Replicator System

Feature 4 - Sexbot construction lab (operated by Nimhe)

RESULTS

So in V0.4 there will be Nimhe's Sexbot Lab (I posted the room screenshot yesterday, lewd content and mechanics are in design phase...).

The other features will also come. Wreck Exploration is required to drive the main quest forward, so I will be in V0.5. Space Combat will be next after that (not sure it fits into V0.5), then the other ones as time permits.

It's more of a management and money earning scheme in the beginning, but maybe the captain gets one for his quarters. Quality control and such ;)

hope these bots are bad and need spanking !!!!

Checked out both, Godot looks interesting because it has UI game modules, 3D and a more pythonesque code language. For a farm simulator or the likes I'd go with Game maker, but considering what games i'd like to make Godot might be better. Probably will install Godot and have a look into it. Edit: Made a small 2D platform jumper within 60 min in Godot. Like the language concept very much...

It was posted about ten days ago in the VIP tier. You can still find the poll by searching the posts for "poll" and leave the vote ;) Might change the sequence of the features arriving, but the sexbot lab leads by a far margin already...

This part of Option 1 (Space Combat) sounds like it could be interesting. :) "Chance for Salvaging Loot or Enemy Captain"

Thanks for the tips on game engine. I have indeed considered switching after SJX to a more powerful game engine. I write 70% of my game layer anyway "on top" of Renpy in Python, so I guess I could do away with the remaining 30% Renpy and gain more freedom. Have considered Unity but wasn't convinced. Will give GameMaker or GoDot a look. Requirements for the next game engine are 3D asset capability and proper 2D screen management features ( for sidescrollers or dungeon minigames)

A lot of these poll results are pushing in a direction where Ren'Py is no longer the correct engine to use. So you should start to consider getting familiar with alternative engines that are better suited for those types of systems. So that your next, or the project after, can be made in one of those. It does not have to be Unity, because Unity is not suited for 2D development, it is possible, but not ideal. GameMaker Studio and GoDot are much better suited for your future needs. Personally I don't like general engines at all and write my own in C with SDL. But I understand why you want to use an engine. This is just advice, because the way Ren'Py is used and scripted is optimised for VN's with light systems, and everything else, while possible, will be more difficult to write and manage. Performance wise Ren'Py code perform 100 - 1000 times more slowly than equivalent code written in c# or c++.
