Guard Dogs

This is the latest YCH auction featuring Karnaltiger and my newly created character Rex! :3

So this was a little different! I had originally pondered over possible YCH ideas but just wasn't satisfied. I couldn't seem to find an idea that would feel right. Eventually, I realized that my current pool of characters was just too limiting. It's weird in a sense, because I sometimes tend to "forget", that I have all the freedom to draw whatever I want. Over time, I start to limit myself, because I feel that I need to justify every character I draw. When starting out, I drew a certain species just for the heck of it, with no strings attached.

Nowadays, it can be a bit frustrating, because there are some people out there that see every random character with no background as up for grabs. And so knowing that, it can put a damper on motivation to draw a character just for fun. I need to overcome that again.

Because, when I settled on this idea, I really did it because I wanted to draw a doberman character. And ignoring that I already had a cast of characters I rarely use, I really enjoyed the freedom of designing him and putting the picture together. So much so, that while the auction was running, I kept working on the picture as far as I could, so I ended up finishing it much faster.

This felt really good and sparked my creativity again. So I'm sure I will draw this dobie again in the future. :3
