Public Release Candidate v1.055 alpha

Patreon patrons get regular testing updates like the 1.054 released the other day, but we also update the public release versions (for our web site, itch.io, and elsewhere) every few months. This will be one of those versions.

If you already got version 1.054 the other day then this version won't be very exciting as it contains only a few changes from that one. Namely:

1. The opening menu mouse follow particles have been fixed.

2. The background sky and planet as seen outside of the ship's windows has been improved.

3. Transport ships can once again be seen every now and then flying away from the main ship.

4. Some lighting has been improved.

Everything else is pretty much how it is in the 1.054 version released the other day.

So, why this release? And why does it say "Break This Please!" up there?

If you're like me (Giselle) and you like to look for problems (and solve them!) then this is the release for you. Do your best to break it. Try things you wouldn't normally try. Mess around with it and see what technical bugs we might be missing.

This isn't a request for wishlist items (i.e. "when is oral coming?"), nor is it for reporting on clipping issues (i.e. her hand slightly clips through his leg). We're aware of those things and working on improving with each new release.

What this is for is trying things like hitting a button twenty times in fast succession, then quickly choosing a pose, and seeing if anything broke. Things like that. Things that people normally wouldn't do but... well, you never know. Also, hey, if there's SEVERE clipping or weirdness, like an arm stuck through a face, let us know about that too.

So, if you're inclined to help out with that sort of thing, we'd really appreciate your help!

Please note that this process requires slightly higher than average PC/Windows knowledge so if you're not comfortable editing the registry, this might not be for you.

*******************************************************

Note: If you own 'Rei' or 'Cali Cali GunGun' you'll have to install them again with the installer files you received when they were released. Please make sure you have these files on hand as this process will remove them from your game until you put them back in.

Here's what to do:

1. Uninstall FLSM (Control Panel/Programs and Features/FLSM then click the "Uninstall" button) - OR - Delete the FLSM folder from C:/FLSM.

2. Delete the 'FLSM' registry entry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ripened Peach Entertainment\FLSM) - Please back up your registry before messing around in there! Be aware that this step will remove all of your FLSM settings.

3. Download the game installer from here: http://futurelovespacemachine.com/files/1.055-RC/FLSM_RC-1055-setup.exe

4. Install it. Try it. It should be like a "free" version with very few characters and poses. Can you break it?

5. To install the add-ons, download and install this file: http://futurelovespacemachine.com/files/1.055-RC/FLSM_SUPPORTER-1.055-RC.exe

6. Install extra characters like 'Rei' or 'Cali Cali GunGun' if you have them.

7. Try it. Can you break it?

Feel free to repeat that process as desired for full testing.

We'll give this about a week before finalizing the build. Report your findings here as a comment in this thread. Try to give as much information as possible about the bug and how you get it to happen. :)

That's it. Thanks so much for your support and help!

Public Release Candidate v1.055 alpha

Thanks! The bug I had run across was if I had two different custom characters loaded up, entered the editor, changed the first character and overwrote the old file with the save, then hit go without loading the edited version in, I somehow ended up with the first character being replicated in the second character. The loaded character is not updated after a save, so to use the updated version you need to re-load them in, but that is probably a good thing. Keeps things straight. I am not able to replicate it in the "live" version, so it was either a sunspot playing tricks on me or some fluke that I'm not precisely able to repeat.

GarGhuul

Ok, I'm responding to your private message as we speak, and I got the message about the first hairstyle in the editor, which I'm fixing now (along with the other broken ones).

Ripened Peach

Found a few more bugs between my last post here and the new release. Nothing huge, just some oddities with custom character saving being silly with the character selector. If they are still present in current release, I'll explain them.

GarGhuul

Ok, everything from this thread is either fixed or will be in the future. I'll release the fixed version update in a day or so (if all goes well). Thanks again for your help! ~ Giselle

Ripened Peach

Fixed custom character loading. Fixed invalid characters in filename.

Ripened Peach

fixed: Added an option to the Settings menu.

Ripened Peach

Can't quite figure this one out yet, so it's on the list for a future update.

I had originally left the negative scaler in because, yeah, you can do some interestingly weird stuff with it. Good to know about the performance hit. I'll look into that. The pigtails hair doesn't work correctly with scaling yet, because of how the dynamic physics are done on it. I'll try to get it working one of these days.

Ripened Peach

Thanks again everyone for the reports. I'm going through each one and fixing them up.

Ripened Peach

annnnnnnd... just after I wrote that comment, I got it to do it. Good catch. Added to fix it list!

Ripened Peach

Weird. I'm trying to get it to do the same thing on this end so I can figure out what's happening.

Ripened Peach

thank you. Yeah I noticed that. It's because those characters aren't selectable, so the system essentially doesn't know they're in there. That causes the mouse to not register over them. Trying to figure out a way to fix that.

Ripened Peach

Excellent, thank you! Looking into those issues today.

Ripened Peach

Oh yes, that's because we have screen shots set to be super high res, so they always come out really detailed. I'll put an option in the settings menu to be able to better control that.

Ripened Peach

near-0 eyeballs lowering FPS seems to be a one-off, unable to reproduce since the first few times. Still not sure what's up with the Load Custom for 1.055. I had a backup copy of .054 which had no issues... running from the backup folder, so I deleted that just in case there was some sort of crossover bug, as I'm guessing they fed off the same registry key for setup info. .055 still gives me trouble loading custom characters anyways. Once past the %%%%damaged%%% portrait issue by entering the creator or hitting go, the character selector reverts to normal. Until I load another one. So it seems to just be the selection menu having an issue. Side note: When saving a custom toon, you can enter illegal characters like ? or /. It will of course not actually save, but the green "Saved" message appears while the savename entry prompt remains open. Although it is probably way too early in the game for a "don't do that" message to be high priority, might as well mention it. I wasn't thinking at the time, and tried to name a negative eyed toon "broken?" Go figure.

GarGhuul

Odd. Screenshots taken at 1920x1080 are in 3840x2160. Even in windowed mode. My desktop is 2560x1440. Could explain the long "hang" when I take a screenshot.

GarGhuul

With Pose Library open, holding middle mouse button (or mousewheel) no longer moves the camera. You can still zoom in and out with it though.

GarGhuul

Tiny bug: In the "Free" version the little pink "Choose me next" square can appear in boxes with no poses in them. In the full version it can appear in the same box up to three times (so far) in a row, with no apparent change from clicking on it other than restarting the animation.

GarGhuul

Grr, can't nail it down consistently or get rid of it. <a href="http://imgur.com/a/jdLRO" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://imgur.com/a/jdLRO</a> Sometimes loading a custom toon, sometimes just clicking and cancelling, sometimes clicking and selecting a toon then cancelling. Partner 2 will do the same, except it shows a messed up Molly or Rei (depending on if I have Rei enabled.)

GarGhuul

Just clicking "load custom character" and canceling out seems to bork the character selection list until you hit go or enter the character creator. I initially thought it was due to having a character with negative eye and hair values in the favorites folder, but it doesn't seem to go away after repeated un/re-installs and restarts after deleting the FLSM documents folder. In other news... while it is no surprise the Grobulans have clipping issues with everyone, the male's balls seem to be doing backflips in pose Green 7 and Red 2. While hilarious, this seems unintended.

GarGhuul

Hmm, I can confirm the mousewheel issue, sort of. It appears to continue to work if the mouse pointer is over the scrollbar area, at least for me. No issues that I can tell after the supporter patch is applied.

GarGhuul

I followed steps 1-4 above to install the public RC. After selecting "Jack In" and loading the character select screen, I tried using the mouse wheel to scroll down the Partner 1 list. About halfway down the list (<a href="http://puu.sh/qldzX/7b3e526894.jpg)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://puu.sh/qldzX/7b3e526894.jpg)</a> the game stops responding to the mouse wheel at all (up or down) and I have to drag the scroll bar up to the top to get it to work again. This happens for both lists.

Aaron Loessberg-Zahl

Realise I'm behind the curve here, but you may want to know that the "scale" adjustment for eyes and hair can go into negative numbers. This turns eyes inside out and hair upside-down. For all I know though, that could be intended, some interesting effects can be produced. Mind you I seem to take a serious performance hit with eyes near 0 scale, going to double-check that. The "pigtails" hairstyle (With the bows) also seems to hide the scale/placement options when selected in the creator.
